I agree with you, the dems on here confirm that fact everyday.

After reading the linked article and above paragraphs in particular, it seemed obvious that some folks really do need and seek out authoritarian leadership, regardless of the quality and righteousness of the person or institutions offering it up. It got me wondering about the ratio of religion driven Trump supporters to the non-observant Trump supporters. Just something to ponder.
Conservatism today has become a cult, much like organized religion. They want to be told what to think, and they want to believe.

Still? He's been President for what? Three days? Kind of early to lose much support.

This thread might have been more appropriately timed back in, say, October or early November.

OP - I suggest taking this to the Great Debates forum. People are more able to actually have a discussion there.
I'm not a Republican, and I didn't vote for Trump. Perhaps if fewer of the progressives who post here had, in a general sense, less condescending attitudes, more non progressives would be less on the defensive.

I have found it is easier to believe than to assess and think about any situation. Unfortunately my beliefs are frequently crossways with reality. As a result after carefully defining then and observing actual evidence I think about problems.

One example is my attitude toward authority. Over the years I have observed authorities are serving their own purposes and using me to advance themselves so after thinking about these observations I do not trust any authorities. I trust myself. I am not a believer. I think freely and make my own conclusions.
