Neither Trump nor Hillary got the majority of the national vote (45% v. 48%). Bill Clinton's share of the national vote in 1992 was even smaller, only 43%, and he won 370 electoral votes. More of the country voted against Bill Clinton than voted against Donald Trump.
Facts are facts.

Can you dispute the FACT that more Americans voted for Hillary than for Trump?

Why does the right hate facts?

If there 100,000,000 candidates and the vote counts were

2, 1, 1, ... , 1

then the single candidate who got 2 votes got a plurality.

All this talk about mandates and pluralities is meaningless.

He's in office now. No I rather he wasn't BUT -

We need to TRY to make this work and give him a chance.

Lets all say one nice thing about him today!

I'll go first -

I really liked what he said about BIG PHARMA! Couldn't agree more.

What more clear mandate could the American electorate have given Trump than the White House and Republican majorities in the House and Senate?

No, but I'm saying that's a meaningless statistic. In the grand scheme of things, all it means is that "My candidate was slightly less of a loser in the competition that wasn't taking place."

Hillary won the dead vote too, right?

There's another moral victory.

The majority of Americans don't even get off their lazy butts to vote.
