I can't force the local electric company to switch to wind and solar. Coal burning plants are already in place and powering most of the USA currently. Building new types of power plants costs money and tends to make your electrical bill get bigger. This tends to tick American's off as well.
Fiat was leasing the 500e for something like $139 a month. They are coming off lease now and you can buy a low mile 2013 for around $6000.

Trump is a businessman. He's going to support whatever the American consumer is actually buying. I hope he starts to break up power company monopolies so we can all choose and "vote" on alternatives with our wallets. If a purely alternative energy company is an option, people should have the ability to buy electricity from them. If they can offer cheaper prices, then coal-based power will phase itself out naturally.
Soon it will be feasible to have your power plant on your roof.

False again. Since the boom has begun BTU for BTU natural gas has been about double the price of coal. New natural gas plants have a slight efficiency advantage however that gap will be closed with new coal plants using the same tech.

There is lot of reasons for the recent decline of coal, cost is not one of them.

Trump is actually doing more to hurt WV than help them by holding out a false promise of more work. It's a mirage. Clinton was right, the best thing for WV is to re-train miners into new jobs and bring in modern industry. Too bad she didn't communicate it very well.
Ever been to WV what new jobs?
This meme has been said from Carter and Clinton about re-training when they killed coal jobs with no jobs to replace them.Where do you think steel comes from?
The NS railroad has no trouble getting this cumbersome product to market here or overseas where they love our coal.Everytime a DemoncRat takes office they hurt working families in Appalachia where a Republican gives them what they love to do mine coal its in their blood.Kermit WV was a busy little coal town when I worked there Clinton killed coal jobs that killed off other jobs and poor Kermit is a shell of its self with welfare alcohol and drugs being the new cottage industry.
My son was a conductor on the Big Sandy line out of Russell Ky the job, line and yard are now closed so he got his CDL and drives a garbage truck that pays far less with more hours. How is he better off?

Get the government out of regulating energy PERIOD. Let the market decide what is developed and what isn't developed. People that want green energy need only pay to have it installed on their homes then disconnect from the grid.

Oh wait... that's not what you want. You want someone (government) to mandate (via force) that the electrical energy producers build solar and wind and whatever other pixie dust, fairy farts and unicorn poop ideas you can come up with, have them sell this energy at the same price OR LESS, AND have it be reliable.

Maybe you folks wanting this delusional dream should stick to pixie dust, fairy farts and unicorn poop because our current technology prevents this from being cheaper or even the same cost, it prevents us from having grid scale storage and it prevents this green energy from being a RELIABLE grid scale energy source. Anyone who thinks different does not have a clue about what it takes to produce energy on a grid scale and to keep the lights on.

WV is sitting on top of the huge natural gas pockets.

In 2016 there was more job creation in solar and wind than in fossil fuel energy.
Will Trump listen to what the people want?
What your poll didn't ask is how many of those polled want to pay the high cost of green energy. Everyone balks when the price of gasoline jumps, so when you find a poll showing that people don't mind higher prices for green energy, report back.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Coal is BY FAR the least expensive grid scale electric energy source on the market, AND due to contract prices can maintain those prices far better than natural gas.

Yet, in typical Yellow Journalism fashion, the poll failed to ask if people wanted to CONSERVE.

It does not require MORE energy to SAVE energy.

Options:
__ Mandate superinsulation in all homes and buildings, instead of subsidizing waste
__ Transition to electric traction rail for land transport (save a whopping 90% of the energy consumed by the automobile / petroleum / highway hegemony)

Just those two initiatives would cut petroleum consumption BELOW domestic production, and end dependency on imported oil.
