When your @ss walks out of the store having saved money because a product made overseas is cheaper-YOU GET THE SURPLUS!
Donald Trump's merchandise is made overseas because it's cheaper-he's a total hypocrite on this issue.
Likewise, please follow your own advice.
Do you even know what youre talking about?
"Upon entry-into-force, all TPP countries will be required to effectively enforce their environmental laws, including laws that implement Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) addressing a range of issues, such as endangered species, wetlands, oceans and fisheries, forests and wildlife, and the ozone." Leveraging TPP to Raise Environmental Standards Across the Globe | The Huffington Post
The United States Trade Representative touts the Trans Pacific Partnership as having “the strongest protections for workers of any trade agreement in history.” On paper at least, the Trade Representative is probably correct about the TPP. The TPP requires that all parties to the agreement adopt and maintain laws recognizing the International Labor Organization’s fundamental labor rights and practices. Additionally, the United States has negotiated bilateral “consistency plans” with TPP Parties Vietnam, Malaysia, and Brunei. The consistency plans place additional legal requirements on the parties before they may export goods duty-free to the United States. https://onlabor.org/2016/02/29/enfor...c-partnership/
The TPP was comprised of many highly developed nations including most of the English-speaking world: The US, Japan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore. Also, Mexico, Peru, Chile and Vietnam, Malaysia and Brunei.
Tons of opportunities for California companies.
Hahaha what a piping hot pile of dung.
I mean really, you deserve an award for fearmongering.
Like NAFTA these deals are always portrayed as a win win for everyone. People are jaded and tired being played a fool. There is a powerful disconnect when Obama and republicans in congress were pushing this when a majority of Americans did not want it. If this had passed and got rolling the environmental and labor issues would have become lax over time just like the extremely low wages and horrible working conditions NAFTA companies get away with in Mexico. Why do Mexicans keep coming here for work when they can have a "great" NAFTA job at home?
On top of that your trade numbers with California and Mexico with NAFTA are misleading. 10% of US exports to Mexico come from California. And most California exports to Mexico are high tech and products not actually manufactured in the United States, like IPhones. So the benefit for American workers is minimal

This^ is fearmongering. We shouldnt be afraid to compete on tbe global market.
It's not possible for American industry to complete with nations that have no labor, safety, or environmental regulations. We absolutely should be afraid to compete with slave laborers in third world countries.
I don't see you standing in line waiting to work harder and faster than Chinese workers in dangerous factories.
We can have American industry, we can have labor/safety/environmental standards, or we can have free trade with third world nations. We can't have all three. Economically, it's impossible.

I don't want to bring in cheap imported items that are made by slave laborers in dangerous factories in countries that don't protect their environment. The benefit of cheaper goods is more than offset by the loss of good paying jobs:
By importing goods from third world countries, we effectively import third world policies, which certainly does NOT increase the quality of life for average Americans.
How can anyone claim to be progressive when they support trade policies that reward nations that do not protect their workers or environment, and punish nations that do?
This is a prime example of California having outgrown the United States. Our divergent interests make it impossible to avoid clashes.
Wow, now look who is support states rights now that it suits them.
P.S. Stop whining about "fear mongering" we've seen the dozen or more threads you create every couple of days and you're on the "alex jones" level of fear mongering yourself.
