Incidentally, Orwell was a socialist. But something tells me that it's a discernment a bit too complicated in a country that just elected Trump.
Actually, no.. he supported many ideals of socialism, but what is socialist really depended on who was the worker, who was the government, who was the academic, etc... as what was "socialism" was different depending on the role. This is why Orwell was perplexed by such concepts not being implemented in society at the time. The fact is, to promote socialism, one needed fascism as a tool and this was a concept to which Orwell fought with in his work. It is also why idiot progressives today think that fascism and socialism are opposites when in fact they are joined together in matrimony to achieve a goal.
