Many liberals are always saying how wealthy CA is
Its one of the largest economies in the world blah blah
.. yet CA has the highest poverty rate!

Funny because I always hear about the CA Liberals talk about the poverty in "red states "

That is what happens when you have out of control illegal immigration.

Costs a lot of money to prop up the red states. California is one of few states that has a net positive flow of cash to the federal gov't. South Carolina on the other hand gets back $8 from the feds in aid for every $1 they pay in federal tax.

No doubt illegal immigration plays a big role .

More illegals come from poverty and they stay in poverty .

This is why Los Angeles recently legalized street vending .. "to protect illegals from Trump"

Maybe we don't need people coming here if they are going to come just to open unlicensed food stands .
Of course running an unlicensed food stand is better than dealing drugs or a gang member but still .

And South Carolina thanks California and other "blue states" for supporting the democratic base in that state that are draining the budget.

We have much debt here in California. The unfunded pension plans only add to it.

Our so called Wall of Debt is unsustainable, regardless of what some might say.

Both Gov of CA and Mayor of L.A. were on TV tonight and are defiant about keeping their sanctuary cities booming. Should CA just be written off and borders be placed around CA so immigration status can be checked with everyone coming out of the state so they don't keep exporting illegals across the country?

CA seems lost, anyone can live there with no concern of legalities. I think I read they have 40,000 people living in tents on the street.

Other option is to just give up and say Mexico is the 51st state and they can come and go at will. That seems to be what they do anyway.

These assertions have been thoroughly debunked. NM always tops these lists by a long shot. They have a small population and many federal facilities. Sandia National Lab and Los Alamos by themselves add about $2400 in per capita spending for that state. While NM benefits some from that spending the primary beneficiary is the entire nation.

That is just one example of why trying to use basic raw numbers for this comparison to put it bluntly is stupidity. To make a genuine comparison would become very difficult to say the least. I-80 spans the entire country from San Francisco to NYC, the longest stretch of 455 miles goes through Nebraska. Is Nebraska or the those two cities and all the cities in between the beneficiaries?

One other thing.... direct federal funding to states for many things is based on the census count. Illegal immigrants are included in the census count. If enough of them are deported states like California will lose federal funding where it's based on population.

While on the the topic they will also lose House seats and the electoral college votes. Go Trump Go.

Much of the reason for that is likely related to the large number of illegals there. The illegal population has a harder time than other groups of working poor collecting full benefits and services from the feds. If Democrats had their way and made citizens of them, California would become much more effective at sucking on the federal teat.
