Trump can easily take steps to put extra taxes on Mexico in other ways as well... Mexico, you don't have the smarts of Wall Street... you are going to pay for the wall... the only thing you can control is how deep the US is going to ram you..
Why should Mexico pay for the wall. And don't assume they are stupid because they are not. But really, why should they have to pay for the wall. Trump is the one who wants to build it.
I strongly believe that the money needed to build the Mexican border wall should be deducted from the generous foreign aid packages we give Mexico and other countries who send drugs and illegals to America. In addition to Mexico, it would also not be unreasonable to have countries like El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras also pay since their illegals and drugs also cause a lot of problems here and create the demand for a wall.
Secondly, we should intercept remittences sent to Mexico and Central America by illegal aliens, since that money is illegally made anyway. It hurts our economy when an illegal takes a job that could have gone to an American, and furthermore physically sends the money they make back to their home country so its not spent in America.
Also, by having fewer illegals and refugees using our social services, we can also save money that can be used for wall construction. Providing health care and government benefits like Section 8, food stamps etc to illegals, anchor babies and Muslim refugees (who hate women, gays and Jews by the way) are a great strain on our national finances.
Wait, the president said Mexico will pay and ended his declaration with - "believe me"
Case closed - there is no need to fund anything!
Other than that, since they use tunnels anyway, there may not be a significant drop in illegal immigrants.

If Trump wants Mexico to pay, then the easiest way would be to leave NAFTA and impose taxes on Mexican Goods and Services.
That way Trump will have stuck to his rhetoric and policies which have always stated that Mexico will Pay (at least for some of the wall), the rest could be taken out of Foreign Aid etc.
This would be the only realistic way of forcing Mexico to pay for the wall, however it is controversial and will upset the Mexicans.
wall money should be taken directly out of the checks of people who voted for Trump. And wall labor should be 100% voluntary by Trump supporters.
If I get an option to fund the wall instead of my tax money going to foreign aid to third world countries, or food, education and medical care to illegal aliens and their spawn, I'm all for it.
Then one of their other wasteful programs won't get funded.
So no, added to. Sorry.
Not sure that I understand your post
If the wall will provide added defense of the nation then it should be paid for by the defense budget. That should lead to a decrease in future expenditures as the nation should be safer with the wall. If the wall doesn't produce a level of safety commensurate with it's expense, doesn't pay for itself, then why would we build it?

OP, sure we got massive problem right here right now. Charity begins at home. But CA is probably lost already. We may have to build another wall around CA soon.
Ryan and McConnell said it will cost $12-$15 billion to build the wall. You can bet that is a highly nuanced number that will come in at least twice as high in the end. Mexico is not going to pay that - we are.
