The depths of this many child's stupidity are incalculable. He's led a sheltered life of privilege largely devoid of major trade wars. Whatta we got to lose?
Didn't you also tell us many many times, before disappearing after Nov 8th, that Trump also couldn't win the election?
Trump certainly can place a 20% tariff on Mexican importers. But tariffs are paid by the importer not the exporter. And those will be American companies. Many wholesalers for instance. So American companies end up paying the diffence or passing it on to the American consumer.
Over time it will make a difference in that the place to manufacture may well be shifted by such a tariff. So we may pick up more manufacturing in the US but it will be at the higher price that was created by the tariff. So we may pick up some jobs out of it. On the other hand the Mexican offsetting tariff which is certain to occur will tend to shift jobs to Mexico or other countries as US suppliers are made less competitive by the increases. So even jobs potentially created will likely be lost to the offsetting loss of jobs.
Sounds like the owner winners will be the two governments with increasing revenue from the tariffs paid by their people
Babbling nonsense. It is not a tariff on Mexican imports. Trump is threatening a tax on US companies that make products offshore. Apparently Trump thinks that US companies like to have it both ways. They want our government to help them with intellectual property laws around the world. They want the American Military to intervene anytime a nationalization movement is threatened. Any of you really think all these offshore assets are safe without the US military?
Oh gee did I just post a Mexican tariff on something they thought was unfair?
Why do Mexicans hate us so much? I assume some apple growers are good people...
I can only assume we are supposed to maintain the roads for them as well.
I am not entirely sure I agree with the method. I do however understand the argument.
Sorry ... lost the meaning of the latter part of the post but as for the start ...
No bad on you for it IS hard to keep up with him but I think you're speaking of yesterday's tariff (on US manufacturers that produce offshore to force them to move or keep jobs in the US). This is TODAY's tariff - an across the board tariff on all U.S. imports from Mexico to offset the cost to build the Wall.
It's not just manufacturing. It's also food(produce, vegetables, beef, seafood) that we get from Mexico because they have a longer growing season because of the warmer climate.
The 20% tariff will be passed on to US consumers in the form of 20% price increases, overnight.
Most of our food prices will increase at grocery stores and restaurants. Do you know how many foods use tomatoes and other veggies/fruits, with most of them coming from Mexico?
We have farm land here. We don't need Mexican tomatoes. We can produce more product here. We have plenty of rich farmland that is not being used. America first.

Give it up. No one will EVER be able to EXPLAIN that to Trump.
The US exports $267 billion in goods and services to Mexico (2015). That's a lot of American jobs at risk if Mexico were to retaliate with tariffs and restrictions of their own.

Stick to the topic at hand, Kitty. We'll discuss your decision to intentionally wreck this country by voting for Trump at another time.
