If PM Theresa May's assertion is correct, then Trump has reneged on a major campaign promise to reduce or eliminate our involvement in NATO.

NATO is a relic of the cold war when only the US had the means to defend Europe against the Soviet Union. Europe is now very rich and very lazy. They want the USA to pay the bulk of the NATO budget and be massively on the front lines if Russia invades Lithuania or Latvia.

What's the matter with you Mr. Trump?

I'm so tired of explaining this to slow people. Trump is a NEGOTIATOR. He says we are pulling out of NATO as an opening shot. Don't you get it? He's trying to get countries that have taken advantage of the generous US for too long to wake up. He said it best "we are no longer a wealthy country as we were when NATO was founded" I agree. It has to be an equal partnership among nations.

The threat is to pull out until other nations step up. How can people not see this?

They don't want to see it.

They want to opine on what they don't see.

I'm calling you on your BS.

Trump never said he was promising to withdraw from NATO.

Trump said NATO needed to become more relevant, and member nations needed to make their required contributions.

Trump, and PM May are working to make that happen.

The UKUS Agreement and Five Eyes are also important to both the UK and US in order to combat terrorism.

Theresa May wanted that on record. As one of the British journalists asked afterward, why would anyone trust trump?

Trump is 100 % behind NATO as long as they contribute as agreed and update their mission on terrorism.

The NATO countries have never contributed their fair share and the hope that they will in the future is wishful thinking. I repeat: The USA does not need NATO for our defense and security. If the European NATO members wanted to do something "more relevant" that would enhance their security, they should send a large multinational force into Syria and Iraq to separate the sides and stop the carnage. But they apparently prefer that the middle east invade Europe instead.

The Donald better wise up and stop kowtowing to the wishes of foreign heads of state and political charlatans like Paul Ryan. USA first means exactly that.

Oh sure, the NATO countries should all Kowtow to the country that started this mess of destabilizing the mid-east and causing this chit on a false flag exercise of WMD in Iraq and as far back as the CIA fomenting a coup to get rid of Iran's duly elected president in 1953 because the oil companies told you to.

Here's an idea; reduce your military spending and contributions to NATO to come into line with common sense. The U.S. will not do that because preventing your vast and authoritative MIC from pulling profits out of all these conflicts would probably result in another assassination or two by your own agencies just like the last time.

You are correct in the sense you do not need NATO for your defence but as the rest of the world knows; you will also never relinquish your military influence overseas and throughout Europe, so you can stop beating that stupid guilt trip drum. No one's listening, least of all your own leadership.

You're not over there for them...you're over there for YOURSELVES.

It's no ones vision impaired but your own. Lemmings are prone to following the leader over the cliff.
