Yes, missed his show last night so was watching it on demand this morning. Yes, he does kind of have a point there, and I have to agree with him. That is actually one of my favorite shows on tv.

The GOP milked " Fearbola" for all it was worth in 2014 which made a significant contribution to the recapture of the Senate and huge gains at the state level. They immediately ceased beating the Ebola Drum immediately following the 2014 midterms, despite all the prior fear monguring that we all would soon be dead.
No certainty, if not for Trump, the GOP could have beat Hillary in 2016.
He's right of course. The basis of the Democratic platform on issues that matter is solid. Most Americans tend to agree with it, or at least not actively resist it. But their identity politics is extreme. And there's a history to that. The Democrats post FDR did quite well, but the economy started looking less ideal in the 1960s and 1970s, so Republicans ran on a new economic ideal that which campaigns that basically demonized the government. The result was giving power to corporate classes, and this did see a surge in economic growth. Income stagnated, but GDP is what scares the USSR so who gives a ****?
Democrats noticed this change; American had become quite a bit more conservative. In comes Bill Clinton, who may as well have been Ronald Reagan. He was a Republican masquerading as a Democrat. His politics, at least economically, were as classist and problematic as they come. The Democrats sold themselves into identity politics, trying to reach mass appeal since somehow the Republicans took the working class (who have since been abandoned by everyone). Bernie Sanders was the only Democrat to run and understand this. Well, to care about it. Hillary Clinton is smart enough to know what happened.
But facts are facts. Right or wrong, many people have certain views ingrained in their moral compass. Calling someone a bigot for finding gender identity to be bull**** bothers a lot of people. Criticizing a BLM protest should not make someone a racist. Accidentally saying the wrong thing should not make someone sexist. This postmodern trend of taking something and blowing it out of proportion alienates regular people, in particular, the white working class. You can call pandering to them racist if you want, that doesn't make that view any less stupid. That group of people remains one of the largest in the country. Trump managed to mobilize them in his favor because he said the right things. The Democrats were too busy dancing around people's feeling to realize how few people actually think fat shaming is a social cause.
