Somebody did manual labor in the 1920s -1965 and it wasnt just mexican immigrants, in 1960, the nation's Latino population was just 6.3 million, it skyrocketed to 55.3 million by 2014.

That was a unique situation due to our biggest global competition (Germany, France, England, Japan) all having their countries destroyed and needing to be physically rebuilt. It has nothing to do with American immigration.
