I've noticed throughout these threads of different people's perceptions of what defines our government whether it be to one set of adhering principles or many.

So what is your idea(s) and/or opinion(s) on what form(s) of government the U.S. is currently running?

That's funny! Truth be told, that's why i started this poll. I was researching feudalism.

That along with companies wanting private profits but expenses covered by tax-payer dollar.

Wow! Interesting so far...out of 16 voters, most would agree to corporatocracy.

We are supposedly under the guise of a Democratic-Republic, and our market system is the "free-market" also known as capitalism. Government and the way good are exchanged are two different systems. For instance China operates under a socialist government structure, where power is maintained by a central authority, but they operate thier exchange market under a more "capitalistic nature." Government for the most part does not set prices or ration out goods.

I had to pick several.

1) Constitutional republic

Mainly because it was the founding aspect of our government and while other aspects are rearing their head, this one is still the most prevalent. We still in most cases (though some are being disregarded and misinterpreted) use the constitution as a means to protect and regulate the states.

2) Representative Democracy

Obvious as we still elect officials as representatives to the peoples will, though I sometimes question the adherence to that with the actions of some elected officials who do not act in the best interest of their body, but that of their own personal desires.

3) Democracy

Some states have started enacting pure democracy aspects. For instance, California has 3 forms of pure democracy which it uses. The recall, referendum, and initiative. While they can be successful, they have a much stronger chance of being abused which is why they were never initially added in the first place and why the founding forefathers warned against them. Basically, they felt that if the current system was too corrupt, it was the responsibility of the people to revolt and replenish it with new and fresh ranks.

4) Socialist republic

Because we have many aspects in the system which give the government more and more control over the regulation and operation of the free market. Social Security, Health care regulation, increased social programs and the like.
