The UK government is taking this quite seriously as it appears that the same techniques were also used in Brexit.
You mean "techniques" like advertising?

Sounds like Bannon started collecting data around the same time.

Coincidence?

Only if you believe in unicorns.

"Trump applied for a trademark for "Make America Great Again" in November 2012 -- mere days after the last presidential election."
Donald Trump trademarks 'Make America Great Again' - Oct. 8, 2015
It could be coincidence. Trump wanted to get into politics because not only he liked the recognition but he knew the money it brings. I don’t think trump is smart enough to understand how Big data works. Trump is the typical old man who can barely use a computer and his assistants do all that technical stuff. Trump is just a very effective charismatic peon. He speaks his mind and he is not apologetic. The people with the brains and an agenda are Bannon and the Mercers. However Bannon lacks charisma. You can’t have everything in life.

My understanding is that Rebekah wanted Cruz as a candidate but reality is, Cruz is not charismatic. He is not attractive even though he is still young, he has an annoying voice as he just didn’t look like someone you could trust. Bannon is very smart and knew early on Trump was more charismatic.

It’s like Obama and Hilary. Hilary lacked charisma. Many people did not trust her. Human psychology is an important factor on life.

Listened to a very informative explanation of analytics and campaign strategy by campaign manager, John Thomas. He said he had used Cambridge Analytica several times but now prefers another company because Cambridge is flawed. He also said analytics is just one tool of many that a good campaign manager and strategist uses. Analytics puts ads in front of you to see which ones you will click. Advertisers and marketers do the same.

Trump used analytics AND polling right up until the very end because his campaign knew analytics was flawed

HILLARY STOPPED POLLING FOUR MONTHS BEFORE ELECTION DAY AND ONLY USED ANALYTICS.

Can you elaborate on what you're attempting to articulate here?

So are you saying that this was a hacked election? That it was an illegitimate election?

Yep. Partisan politics at play here. The fact is the way the data was mined. Obama was mined through legit means. Cambridge Analytica Trojan Horsed users (not in a tech sense) and took their data and friends while Facebook didn't even know it was happening and Facebook more so was lied to by Cambridge Analytica and when Facebook realized they got had around 2017, Cambridge Analytica lied again when they said they deleted the data. They didn't.

Yes, agree. I am really leaning towards the idea that the President had no idea about the Bannon-Mercer Cambridge Analytica data manipulation angle. Or, maybe he had a vague idea, but he didn't ask for details.

Although, if he was subjected to the CA "special services" that might explain some things. Who could be better a candidate to blackmail/manipulate with Ukrainian hookers and "property development offers too good to be true" as the CA CEO is talking about doing on tape?

I read the entire thread a second time. No one has said that.

Check your brainwashing.
