Restating the correct fact: there is no ban on any religion or country to visit or immigrate to Australia.
What I said is accurate.

Call it a ban or a de facto ban -- it amounts to the same thing.

No. It does not.

13.7% of Americans are foreign born

26.8% of Australians are foreign born

But, tell me again how it's the "same"

And how many of those "foreign born" are from the UK, Canada and New Zealand?

I would say most of them.

And don't they have more of a right to migrate there than people from other countries do?

They make up a 7.7% of the total population. Australia has an open border with NZ, (and has the worlds 3rd largest polynesian population as a result) outside of NZ however every country is treated the same. The preferential treatment of immigrants from the UK ended 40 years ago, the average british immigrant in Australia is now more than 60 years old.

In the 2011 Australian census a bit more than 20% of the population said they spoke a language other than English at home, exactly the same portion as the USA. Australia however totally lacks a dominate second language like the USA has with Spanish.

In that census Sydney registered 180,000 Arabic speakers, which was more than California.

Oh and Artemis is actually a bit out of date (2011), the ABS puts the current population at 28% foreign born.

Yes indeed.

Got to wonder why so much hoopla about how it isn't a Muslim ban when we all know that's exactly what it is.

I owe it to my family and to my friends whose faith is being singled out by a ruthless, divisive govt.

We were in the long international arrivals hall and we cheered passengers as the left the big security doors and into the public area.

As a result, I had the opportunity to speak with some people arriving on flights from all over the world and whenever able I asked the following question:

"What do people in the part of the world you just arrived from think about President Trump and the United States since he took office?

A common theme in the responses quickly emerged: Our image is being tarnished very quickly. They are losing respect for the United States specifically because of Donald Trump. We are a laughing stock in much of the world except it's not funny.

Imagine that, such a great and noble nation toppled by a clownish buffoon.

I kept thinking about this...
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."-Emma Lazarus

Alert the Press! An unhinged lefty is lying about interviewing international passengers arriving at SFO and superimposing her opinion on what she claims they told her.

Leave and be happy!

I don't believe you accepted Obama's presidency as gracefully as you imply. You may not have been a "cry bully." But, like many American conservatives, you likely spent those 8 years perpetually hostile.

As a dual citizen (triple citizen if I pursued official British citizenship), I COULD leave, but I choose not to. I made a commitment to the US when I became a citizen years ago, and I'm going to keep my commitment. I'll stay and try to effect the change I would like to see in the US, a country that I love despite her many flaws. I'm a tough girl.

Oh, and get this: I'm not a "lib."

Once again, you prove how incapable you are of thinking beyond the stifling conservative vs liberal gridlock of the US. You want to put yourself into a box, go ahead. But do NOT assume anything about me. You choose to be myopic; I don't.

Please go get some experience outside of the US. It'll do ya good.

Ignoring the many countries that are nationalist and are far from fascist. Many Norwegian countries, for instance. And South Korean, who is fiercely nationalist.

Are they headed down the path of Nazi Germany?

Please explain how this is a Muslim ban when there are 56 nations that are majority Muslim but only 7 of them are a part of this travel moratorium?

Why, if this is a Muslim ban, would this administration leave out 88% of the Muslim world?

I won't be expecting a reply because I know you will have none.
