What makes you think the Democrats will go along with any plan to abolish the student loan program?

The scam should be ended, not reformed.

me too.

But people desperately want him to fail in everything - even if that means, the country goes (further) down the drain. I don't get it. He is here. Nothing we can do against it. So why not suck it up and support him?

No, you just see any reason at all to bash Trump no matter what he's doing. It's quite obvious.

Because they're the ones who usually loathe profit on loans.

For all you know, he intends to end all federal assistance via low interest loans to families and students and replace it all with commercial loans from private banks at credit card rates.
You need to give things time to play out.

I am in a world of hurt over students loans myself. The problem is young people are fed inaccurate info about what their salary will be with a college degree vs 2 year degree vs skilled trade. My first jobs out of college paid $12 to $15 with no upside at all. Had I known that I would have just worked in retail or fast food and worked my way up to manager. Would make the same money with no loan debt. Quite frankly only very good HS students have any business going to college and only if they major in something practical like engineering, doctor, teacher, etc. People that are average students and switch their major every year will not benefit from a degree.
