Lots of hiring to get ready for the economic boom we are about to see

Private payrolls grew 246K in January vs. 165K est.: ADP

Quote:
Amid an explosive month surrounding President Donald Trump's inauguration and the flurry of activity that followed, firms added 246,000 new workers to their payrolls, the report showed.

That compared to expectations of 165,000 from economists surveyed by Reuters and marked a substantial jump from the downwardly revised 151,000 — initially reported as 153,000 — in December. January also turned in the best single-month performance since June.
Good paying jobs too...

Moreover, the hiring wasn't as dominated by services as it's been in the past.

Goods-producing companies hired 46,000 workers, the highest in two years. Construction jobs led the way with 25,000, while manufacturing added 15,000 and natural resources and mining contributed 6,000. During the campaign, Trump promised to bring back blue-collar jobs, particularly in mining.

This is good news. But it's too early to attribute this to Trump. The 1st 3 mos. belong to the prior administration, good or bad.

For one thing, Trump hasn't done anything to put money in our pockets yet. So he hasn't spurred business.

The only thing that reacts not based on real dollars but on confidence is the stock market.

Wonderful. Have you ever heard of the phrase "Correlation is not causation?" Just because two events occur at the same time doesn't mean one caused the other. As a matter of fact, Trump will probably be responsible for at least some job losses, considering he has enacted a federal hiring freeze and has defunded Planned Parenthood.

I'm fairly certain Obama was president for all of December and 2/3 of January.

You snowflakes just don't get it. This is a reaction to Trump's win and plans to deregulate and focus on bringing jobs back.

Oh no, it would have happened anyway. Carrier was going to keep the jobs here, Ford was about to cancel construction of their Mexican plant, all the new foreign investments and just about anything else positive about the economy was in the works already. Even the stock market was going to hit 20,000 anyway.

It's neither here nor there, but I would stomp someone to sleep for calling me a snowflake irl. I don't understand why the mods allow it.
