I'm talking about issues like illegal immigration. Partially enforcing our immigration laws and our sovereignty is like saying, "Well, two fingers is better than the whole hand."

You apparently haven't looked at past midterms, majority of them go against the party of the standing president

Default schummer told us it is not right to approve a nominee with just 19 months left in gwb admin

The d-party is carrying on obama's legacy of no negotiations just blackmail and character assassination helped by the media propaganda machine.

If they have an issue, they have a national forum on which to expose the resons why they reject a candidate. Why not do their character assassination on the record in front of the world's stage. Companies pay a fortune for such media exposure while the dems reject the opportunity to poison the repubs political future.

the have no resaonable objections and therefore do not want to expose themselves to further ridicule.

To supress discussion at this is an argument to replace them with adults.

don't argue that repubs refused to hear obama's SC pick as there is an unbroken tradition to not have a hearing for a nominee by an outgoing president.

If you were to believe schummer, what the repubs did was exactly what he advocated

"Sen. Chuck Schumer said in July 2007 that no George W. Bush nominee to the Supreme Court should be approved, except in extraordinary circumstances, 19 months before a new president was set to be inaugurated."

It doesn't matter if the Dems were there or not. The candidates would have been nominated anyway. At least this way they got their coffee break.

Don't forget about the Trump supporters who attacked the Muslim woman in the subway.

As a matter of fact, a group of Muslims attacked me while yelling "Death to America. Hillary should have won!" about 10 minutes ago. I was also attacked by some gay men yelling "we hate Trump!" just last night. Two days ago....

Apparently trump fans like cabinet nominees who lie to the American people during their
confirmation hearings. Good to know.

Democrats are not worth less than relevant.

Finance Committee Appproves Price, Mnuchin--With No Dems Present - Christine Rousselle
They did a "boycott" yesterday and again today. Not showing up for the vote shows all the maturity of a toddler hiding in the closet because mom says it's naptime. What a joke that these people are in charge of our government. I'm surprised that the Dems didn't do one of those childish sit ins like they did on the House floor last year. Sit ins, boycotts, next they'll toilet paper the chamber, chant some insipid PC nonsense, and throw food at the Republicans. CNN will refer to this as a brave stand for Democracy.

This is the Finance Committee - what I don't know is whether the "Rules" are the same for all Committees or if each Committee gets to set their own "Rules". IF they are all the same - then the Media report is wrong. The "Rule" in the Committee on the Environment is that 2 members of the Minority have to be present at the Business Meeting and that "Rule" can be suspended if they are not present and the 'business' can be passed on to the Full Senate. IF the "Rules" are all the same for ALL Committees - then they changed nothing - they just applied the suspension and sent it on to the Full Senate.

Anyone know for sure?

OK - I found it - Each committee shall adopt rules (not in-
consistent with the Rules of the Senate) governing the procedure of such committee.

Add to that - From CNN
Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican, pointed to the "extraordinary circumstances" surrounding the gathering and allowed the Republicans in the room vote to suspend the rules of the committee.
With the committee rules suspended, the 14 Republicans in the room voted to move the Mnuchin and Price nominations to the full Senate, even without the presence of a single member of the opposite party.

"They on their own accord refused to participate in the exercise," Hatch said about the Democrats on the committee. "They have nobody to blame but themselves."
Hatch said the Senate Parliamentarian had approved of the procedural maneuver, and insisted to reporters after the exercise was a "just utilization" of the rules. "This is all approved by the Parliamentarian," he said. "I wouldn't have done it if it hadn't been."

They all knew the "Rules" -- 2 day boycott and they should have expected this.

Wow, you might want to think about cutting back on the salt....

That stuff is no good for the ol' ticker.
