What trillions of dollars? The relationship is mutually beneficial.
Both countries were settling refugees the other were not able to settle. Australia will no longer take in asylum seekers by boat, so they needed a solution for these people in limbo and they reached an agreement with the US.
It is not a policy. That was it. No more were planning to be swapped.

Nobody wants to take these refugees, I think they should be sent to Canada. Australian people are starting to revolt just the same as USA. Australia is our friend.
