The GOP likes to pretend it likes less da guberment. Now lets take this private prison example. That is just a da guberment contractor . Its still spent by da guberment. And sending people to prison for having weed is a lot of da guberment.

Private business is conducted by a private buyer and a private seller. Private contractors being less da gubermnet is a complete farce since any da gubertment spending is essentially a tax on the productive capacity of the society. The GOP is big ass da guberment.

It ain't complicated.

Probably just complicated enough to confuse you.

The first advocate for legalization was Ron Paul, a Republican.

As others have pointed out, follow the money. There is still too much money to be made by keeping it illegal.

I support full legalization just like Trump does.

And CO, WA, etc will never go back to prohibition.

They want to rule their way, just as the Dems want it their way. Peas in a pod.
True. Both LOVE Big Government.

So I guess that's why most Dems in congress favor prohibition. Big Pharma gives Dems a huge amount of money.

Do you have a soundbite?

So far Trump has sent very mixed messages on marijuana. He used to be pro-legalization, but after he ran for President he scaled back to medical only and continuing the Obama policy in terms of states legalizing recreational. That is fine, but then he nominates Jeff Sessions, a hard-core anti-marijuana warrior, who has refused to remove the option of shutting down the marijuana industry in legal states from the table.

To be fair, I imagine the lobbyists are equal opportunity vote-buyers.
