I've lived in a Union state and now live in a right to work state. I will tell you. The economy in a "right to work" state is way better than a union state. I have multiple family members in unions in Indiana and Illinois, and they are laid off off work all the time.
This is extremely common that workers find more work in right to work states vs. Union held " forced union" states. More options and happier workers who are free to switch jobs if they want.
I've been non-Union and Union in my job. Mostly union. I see the need for the union when dealing with irresponsible management. I started out working for a non-union company that was fantastic. Very well run and efficient. Treated their employees very well. Union people would say they did so to prevent employees from unionizing. I believe they just had a good culture.

Workers are always free to switch jobs, union or not. Its about employers having more power, something the GOP is generally in favor of. The union guys I know all love their union bennies and are far from unhappy. (Note most are in the trades)

Thumbs up on that one. Outside certain areas like govt, grocery stores and a few areas, you get the union you deserve.
Lower wages for the little people! Deregulate Wall Street! Tax cuts for the rich!
If this is winning, I'd hate to see the losing.
Unions only exist to keep the incompetent and lazy employed. That description includes the Business Managers and Union Reps all the way up to Union leaders by the way.
Unions started out with a noble mission and did it well for years until crooks and greedy, corrupt thieves found out it makes a good home FOR THEM.
Now despite many attempts to clean them up they still can't seem to shake their old habits of being thugs,crooks and cheats lining THEIR and their friends pockets on the backs of honest workers.
They've stood up for such noble workers as those UAW dope smoking line workers, no show jobs, no work sit on your butt playing cards jobs, looted pension funds,back door dispatching for bribes, pay to play etc etc etc.

Of COURSE they are happy, no matter what they do they are almost guaranteed to be immune from termination...
You should call it a right to fire state. No protection for the employee or for the employer. I would not work in a place that didn't have a union. Unions are there to protect us and the dues is fine with me. At my workplace people started complaining about the union dues so if you don't want to pay it's OK. My beef is they still get the same protection as me.
Anyway; I've seen too many managers go power mad. There must be protection. I suppose those in favor of right to work states also defend sovereign immunity.
Teachers union took my money..Never did one thing for me..Supported liberal causes to my objection..And allowed those who should have been fired to remain
Unions were necessary when the world was not safe for the American worker
Today bloated by cronyism and corruption they have harmed the American worker
Unionize if the workers want to and can..Don't be forced to do so
