Actually no. I remember quite clearly The Donald saying that the Health Care Plan was all set to go on day one. It needed only the final touches, but it was ready to go.
I guess that was not true, was it?
The problem was he left the details with his investigators on the ground in Hawaii....
Several hints have been provided. HSA accounts, Tort Reform.....the tricky part in their plan is the ability for one to purchase coverage across state lines. Any major insurance company can do business in any state. Since its the states regulate health insurance in their given state, those regulation oftens don't sit well with the bottom line, thus insurance companies pull stakes. Insurance companies have broken down the demographics of every county in every state knowing full well where risk lies, where to avoid etc. Allowing a high risk person to purchase coverage in a profitable county, in a far away state will not sit well with insurance companies.
None are a viable replacement for ACA, if these old ideas are all they have then they are not going to like the results of the next elections, count on that. Time for Republicans to fulfill their promises and improve the situation, if they do not, it is they that will pay for their ineptitude.

The GOP has had six years - SIX - to have all of this in place.
There is nothing "tricky" about being able to purchase coverage across state lines - ask anyone who works for an employer located in a state different from where one lives.
All of this is just so much smoke and mirrors to distract from the fact that they are getting all sorts of push back from their constituents and, as has been noted, know that they are at great risk of getting thrown out of office next year.
Fascinating isn't it, how even lousy policies are valuable when it looks like they might disappear.

At this very moment an individual can not purchase health insurance from Maryland living in Montana. However, company group plans may provide coverage to far away employees as far as I know. Different laws for different groups. My point is it's tricky now and may be a stumbling block, a big one.

How "tricky" could it possibly be to enact a simple law that applies to both group and individual plans?
This is exactly what I was talking about when I noted that the GOP has had six years to figure this out.
After all of the repeal votes, surely they would have started work on these core issues that they keep wanting to use as selling points for their "plans."
Where there is a will there is a way, right?
That none of this is yet in place proves that they've got nothing but BS.
No, it's been six years that the GOP has been attempting to kill the ACA. So now it's been six years and three weeks.
Remember how repealing the ACA was, according to both the Republicans and Donald Trump, going to be a job they did on day one? What happened to that?
Every year that it remained, additional tentacles were wrapped around the taxpayers throat. It will take longer to repeal now that all the front-loaded goodies have to be paid for.
Can't wait until they find out the schools they think they will be sending their kids to cost 20-30K a year and the vouchers only cover 6K.....
A plan to rectify that situation will be introduced. It will be called the "ESA" Plan The Education Savings Account.
