Changing planes in the US has always been a colossal pain - only first-world country that forces you to get your luggage, pass customs, and re-check your luggage. Kafkaesque. And while no immigration authority anywhere is popular, US immigrations are notorious.
this has driven me crazy for decades. You have to rush to save your luggage from thieves.
I try to travel through "pre clearance " airports when I can, but there are not that many..
Well we heard that Hard bookings already declined a couple of percent, but it looks like it might be much worse .
Globally fight searches to the USA have fallen off a cliff, and the bad news is this is the busiest time of year for vacation bookings.
Overall we can see a 17% decline in searches for travel TO the USA! And remember Tourists are counted as exports in terms of deficit. A drop as high as 20% of tourists in FL would be a major disaster. Hopefully it will not be as bad and maybe visitors will come later, but it could be worse if Trump does not stop his crazy antics .
This is what happens when the world sees us as the bad guys, it could cost the economy billions if Trump does not do something to turn this around.
"""Hopper.com data revealed that searches dropped for U.S.-bound flights from 94 out of the 122 countries in the report. Curiously, the one place experiencing a sharp increase in demand for flight searches to the U.S. is Russia"""
International tourism’s value to the economy is also calculated as an export, so any reduction in tourists from overseas could also exacerbate the US’s trade deficit—exactly the opposite of Trump’s stated policy goals.
So searches, not actual tourist entries into the US?

Coming here for tourism and immigration are two different things. Nothing has changed for anyone coming here as a tourist.

Quite true. People usually avoid real or perceived social unrest. The constant protests including at many airports is a detractor.

Tourism is down in europe. Probably because of terrorism and financial unrest.
"The chief executive of European Tour Operators Association, Tom Jenkins, is alarmed by a reduction in the number of visitors from Europe’s largest markets—Japan and USA, and feels that this should ring the alarm bells in tourist friendly places across Europe."
Tourism is down in Europe, as well as Turkey and in general, globally.

Tourism and immigration are two different things, nothing has changed about it when coming into the US since Trump has been president.
Yes, tell them what Trump told the whole world, that in America there is nothing but carnage, closed down factories, rampant crime, drugs, violence, unemployment, terrorism and all around misery.
Since the election, we have been to Spain and Italy. In addition to the local nationals, we also spoke with several Brits who were on holiday in these countries.
Of those we spoke with who have traveled/vacationed in the US in the past, ALL said they were both angry and fearful of returning to the US under the current regime.
This so-called president is isolating the US to a degree never seen before. It is a sad time in the world when America is perceived as a terrible place to visit.
And who can blame them?! I mean just the thought of having to run the gauntlet of screaming, crying, hysterical, liberals at the airport gives me the willies.
Exactly! Be prepared to see President Trump blamed for everything for the next 4 years. You can't rationalize with irrational people.

If Trump supporters want credit for December job gains and January factory openings they should also be willing to own this. Otherwise you're just cherry-picking and cheer-leading.

Tourism is a aspirational product, it requires the potential vistors to view your nation in a positive light.
Trump took a shotgun and shot out every light. The entire world thinks we are not nice for the overly aggressive stance taken by our President.
This is exactly how these markets work. Why do you think terrorists target tourists ? Think about it? Terrorists have been targeting tourist areas because it has a multiplier , it get international attention and it destroys the entire market. Look at Egypt.
as to your claims of falling tourism in the EU, well I see nothing to support that and see lots to disprove it.
