"About 1.4 million adults in the United States identify as transgender, double a widely used previous estimate, according to an analysis based on new federal and state data."

U.S. Population (2017) - Worldometers

This is out of a population of 325.5 million

1.4/325.5 * 100% = 0.43%

Why on earth are we spending SO MUCH TIME talking issues related to this topic?

Because there are a certain number of people that think the majority should RULE over a minority and the minority should not have rights.

Other than that I guess curiosity.

You have to ask yourself why you dont focus on making sure we have a national health care system, that for-profit prisons are banned and that elections are funded by public money and not the big banks and big money interests.

the most striking part of this data is the relatively "high" number of 18-24 year olds who consider themselves "transgender" compared to older age groups. Shows that 'mainstreaming' is having the desire affect.

Yeah, why should any minority that small expect equal rights?

Actually - you're wrong - the majority is comprised of people of many different convictions. Some are very agreeable that the minorities should have rights - but when you shove things down our throat - then our attitudes change.

I agree that there is too much focus on minority problems - especially the gender bathroom thing - if a guy dressed like a woman and used the woman's bathroom - I probably wouldn't even notice him. But the left making everything an issue is what has people stirred up.

I bet money, the number is way lower if not 1/2 of that reported.

We take the liberties of 99.9% of the population, not to offend and hurt the feelings of 0.1%
Makes no sense.

Really? I thought it had to be at least two thirds of us considering how much you hear about it.

And what liberties are being taken away here? Serious question.
