Like I said in Japan.

This is America and we have a social norm that bowing is what submissive ring kissers do.

The White House has an Office of Protocol. The Chief of Protocol has always briefed Presidents on how to properly greet heads of state. Either that position has yet to be filled or Trump thinks acting oddly is business as usual.

These things matter. Acting like a buffoon disrespects the office. It will also give the rest of the world something to snicker about. Trump's bizarre conduct gives people plenty of ammo. Including the people who hate the U.S.

I think for people who hate Trump, they would always have something bad to say about him no matter what he did.

I swear somebody (not you) cannot wait for a WW3. They want America to be an enemy with the rest of the world. The far left and the far right are both like that, they are domestic enemies.

And of course, it was probably just a reaction to that situation. That long handshake isn't uncommon in that situation, which is just a facade for the cameras. It's to show the illusion of power, like public displays of affection or public prayer. No handshake is any other scenario is like that.

I do support it's possible Trump was trying some power play by forcing the handshake to go on. I'm guessing it didn't work.
Come on now.

The eye roll is universal.

The Japanese generally cut a lot of slack for foreigners with regards to following its customs in Japan.

You don't have to bow back when they greet you.

It is not a big deal.

I have no ideas why people pay so much attention on a simple friendly gesture. Both men look happy there, what is the big deal?
Pettiness. Some posters here are like the harpies on The View.

we will have to wait for the day that trump doesn't supply fodder for his critics to see if this is true.

i don't see that happening in the near future.

When you are looking for fodder you will always find it. It's called being hateful.
