This is 1 reason I am NOT for "infrastructure "projects unless they are for federal infrastructure ONLY.
States squander the tax money collected to maintain its OWN infrastructure THEN they go begging to the fed (the rest of us) to bail the out.
What DID the state DO with the money collected to MAINTAIN its OWN property?
In November 2014, California voters approved by a 2:1margin, Proposition 1 - the 2014 California Water Bond. The largest single portion of bond money wasthe $2.7 billion earmarked for the California Water Commission to allocate for waterstorage projects such as dams and reservoirs. It specified money for so-called water storage projects like dams, reservoirs and groundwater and they would be under the control of the California WaterCommission. The governor appointed 9 people to this commission.
They sure didn't spend any of bond money on Oroville ...... I wonder what Governor Moonbeam spent the money on.
If Californians didn't have to subsidize fat Mississippians California could keep their infrastructure from falling apart.
This preventable tragedy will hopefully lead to CaliExit 2018 victory and Californians can look out for Californians and no longer be forced to subsidize white racists in the South!
I say go for it, it will be fun to watch you guys rip each other apart because your free stuff has dried up along with your power, water and food.

The Natomas levees in Sacramento are all being replaced, the Folsom dam has been overhauled and Isabella dam above Bakersfield is undergoing what is essentially a complete redesign. This stuff is on the Internet.
A never-used spillway didn't get priority. It happens.
Will say, though: I am deeply fascinated by the number of Republicans who suddenly argue that it's governmental mismanagement not to heed the warnings of the Sierra Club. Is this a stance that will be applied across the board going forward?
Its more like telling a mooch that's been bleeding you dry for years that you need them to pay you back some of that.
You have been challenged several times on multiple threads to show exactly how CA pays more in federal taxes than they get back in federal spending. You have yet to put forth a clear definition of what federal spending you count and what federal spending you ignore. My guess is that you are not counting all of the military spending in CA or all of the federal employees in CA or federal spending on schools and colleges and on infrastructure projects.

The main spillway is used often, it's the emergency spillway that's never used. The hole that formed in the main spillway is what has sparked the issue of infrastructure spending.

We all know the answer to that, don't we?
It's interesting that this is in the "politics" subforum, too.

Surely you are aware that the 2005 warning that everybody is up in arms about referred to the emergency spillway only.
