I have found many of the brands at Nordstrom are good quality and fair priced.

When our kids were growing up, I always bought their sweatpants there. They are at least twice to three times as thick as sweatpants carried any place else and only cost about half again as much. We lived in the north country and those sweat pants kept our kids warm, were comfortable, washed well, and lasted. They were good quality and an excellent bargain.

Nordstrom office fashions look stylish and hold up. You cannot beat them for mother-of-the-bride dresses. No one else has the selection and quality that that they do in their price range.

If Ivanka's fashions were cheaply made, it is unlikely they appealed to Nordstrom shoppers.

I'm sure that everyone has something made abroad. However, none of us ran for POTUS, especially on a platform of America First, putting Americans back to work, etc.

One would think that the person who is making those remarks AT LEAST would have his own crap made in America, and his daughter-wife's stuff, too. That hypocrisy is OK with you? Or is the Pied Piper's song too strong for you to resist?

Sorry... I have never heard her referred that way. Could provide a link or Video.

But even if that were true doesn't two wrongs make a right?

Heck, there's nothing that distinguishes any of these bags from knock offs that retail for $59.95, other than the respective brands. I choose to not pay a $335 premium for a bag just because it's branded by a celebrity, any celebrity.

My sister bought the same bag made out of some sort of rubber at Target for $15. It's impossible to distinguish this rubber from leather. It will likely outlast the leather version by centuries.

Ivanka had a retail presence on the upper East Side. That store was closed more than a decade ago. In 2011,
Ivanka opened a retail store in Soho to capitalize on her exposure on Celebrity Appretice. This retail store failed to generate sufficient interest to cover the rent. The doors were shuttered before her father declared his run for the Republican primary.

Like many brands, the Ivanka brand is manufactured at a variety of price points. While the brand is the same, the quality and / or designs are very different. I saw online that Walmart carried Ivanka boots. These are not the same boots carried by Nordstrom or Bloomingdales.

There is no upside for any retailer to carry product bearing the name of a POTUS, any POTUS. One would think that a POTUS would not seek to put retailers in this position.

Trump, Don Jr, Melania and Kellyanne piled on Nordstrom. Kellyanne violated a federal law doing so. Nothing will come of it.

Interesting Ivanka has chosen to remain silent.
Walmart has bags/purses for $395....wow!

Do they?

Regardless, I believe when someone flings mud at you, you're perfectly justified in grabbing a handful and flinging it right back.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

It is probably too early to tell how this is all going to shake down, but so far it doesn't look good.

For example, Trump tweeted his support for "Linda Bean of L.L.Bean for your great support and courage. People will support you even more now. Buy L.L.Bean."

Seems "L.L. Bean heiress and board member Linda Bean contributed $60,000 to the pro-Trump PAC Making America Great Again LLC," which was nice of her since individuals are limited to $5,000 contributions. But whatever.

In response to the Grab Your Wallet boycott over this endorsement by Trump, Linda Bean went on “Fox and Friends,” and proclaimed. “I’m not going to back down. I never back down."

However, L.L. Bean executive chairman Shawn Gorman posted a Facebook message on the company’s page, "L.L.Bean does not endorse political candidates, take positions on political matters, or make political contributions,” he wrote. “Simply put, we stay out of politics." He requested that Grab Your Wallet reverse its position.

L. L. Bean remains on the Grab Your Wallet boycott list.

Reportedly, web traffic from northern Democratic states is down, and web traffic from southern Republican states is up.

In what store can you buy clothes made in America?

Interesting fact: Why America Stopped Making Its Own Clothes | The Lowdown | KQED News

Quote:
Try this on for size: In 1960, an average American household spent over 10 percent of its income on clothing and shoes – equivalent to roughly $4,000 today. The average person bought fewer than 25 garments each year. And about 95 percent of those clothes were made in the United States.
Fast forward half a century.

Today, the average American household spends less than 3.5 percent of its budget on clothing and shoes – under $1,800. Yet, we buy more clothing than ever before: nearly 20 billion garments a year, close to 70 pieces of clothing per person, or more than one clothing purchase per week.
Oh, and guess how much of that is made in the U.S.: about 2 percent.
