Simply amazing.
2 years ago Russia was the sworn enemy of the left...and a few politicians from the right

now today... Russia is still the boogie-man of the left...and a few right polticians

most of the population atleast understands that Russia is NOT good or bad...but a another superpower (same as the USA) that wants to do whats good for Russia

every country (especially first world countries ) will look to do what is best for themselves

sometimes.. what is best for one is not best for the others...sometimes it is

it doesnt matter what countries you are talking about... there are plenty of times a UE country will make a law or an action that effects/affects the US badly

look at our now "friend" china.....formerly called Red China

No one is calling for WWIII, but we need to recognize that Russia is a hostile nation that belongs under sanction.
But President Obama who got caught on a hot mic having a private conversation (or so he thought) in Seoul, South Korea, told then Russian president Dmitry Medvedev that Vladimir Putin should give him more space because after Obama's re-election he'd have more flexibility. They were talking about missile defense. That was in 2012. Then there was the Russian uranium deal signed off on by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton while there were those "bigly" donations totaling $2.35 million that went to the Clinton Foundation and weren't publicly disclosed. So WHO doesn't recognize that Russia is not an ally?

That is nowhere close to the truth. Two years ago, people on the right weren't even thinking about Russia.

That would be outrageous if the US had not actually created the Taliban.

You also don't seem to understand the Taliban compared to ISIS would be moderate these days.

Russia has an actual stake in this because they don't want this crap to get into Tajikistan. The Taliban is not friendly with ISIS. would certainly trust Russia's judgment on how to prevent power vacuums in the Middle East more than my country.

I guarantee that 95% of Trump's pro-Russia supporters can't pull up a single example of their Russian support pre-2016.

Oh "they" did did "they".

I supported Obama over Romney in 2012 particularly because Romney had an idiotic Russian policy.

The West has been asleep at Russia's ascent over the past couple of decades. That's why they (the Russians) are taking advantage of our collective stupidity at thinking the Cold War was all over. For them, it never ended and they decided and prepared to fight back ten times harder. That brings us to today.

I don't know where to begin.

In my view (having nothing to do with Trump), we have missed opportunities to make Russia a strategic allies. So while I wouldn't trust Putin as far as I could throw him, we could forge ahead with a more positive relationship which will center around the real threat to Russia (and a certain extent ourselves). That being China.
Picture them as a future swarm of locusts you know is coming, so you had better prepare. China will need tons of resources they currently do not posses, whether it be oil, timber, etc. The obvious place for them to "acquire" this, is within Russia's outer borders. With the Russian native population shrinking, while the Chinese population will be exploding, it is a mathematical nightmare for Russia.

Since no one will be prepared to fight a nuclear war unless they want to bring about the end of the world, much of the fighting will be based on conventional warfare. Russia has little chance to stop China along their borders from making a Crimea type of invasion. This is where being a strong allies of the US could help thwart this future crisis many know is coming. Russia in turn can help us, especially dealing with Islamic terrorism, as they are facing the same problem. Don't forget, they tried to warn Obama & Co 3 times before the Islamic brothers in Boston carried out the bombing.
Russia could also help us in an economic war with China, along with backing up places like Japan so it is not left solely to us.

The bottom line is that we have not treated Russia to well for the last two administrations. It is high time we reassessed our future strategic interests and come to the conclusion it would be in both counties interest to work together.

On a side note, I love how liberals feel Russia should be under sanctions now, but had no problem when Obama & co were cozening up to them. Yet liberals think Iran shouldn't be under sanctions.

Russia stopped being an enemy of intelligent conservatism on the night the last hammer-and-sickle flag was hauled down over twenty years ago; however, that has not turned her into an ally.

By the same process, the defense build-up of the 1980's, promoted by Ronald Reagan (with "the usual suspects" fighting him at every step), left the United States as the sole global super-power -- able to project force against any collection of rabble at will. Remembering what happened after 1945, and recognizing America's relatively benign record when compared to that of other colonial empires, we would have to be fools to unilaterally renounce that advantage.

But what both the Trumpsters and the supposedly Politically Correct collection of Leftist losers fail to recognize is that a new economic order, unashamedly capitalist and dedicated to the free and open exchange of both economic goods and ideas, is emerging, and it has no more use for tariffs and similar tampering than it has for rule by blatant force. Good intentions aside for the moment, the United Nations and its collection of do-gooders has every bit as much a love for power, and its potential abuse, than has any other organization or individual (Mr. Soros, please take note!) who thinks his/her/their model is good for everybody.

The world is on the cusp of a substantial increase in the ranks of nations practicing tested parliamentary pluralism -- and the "club" may soon advance beyond the traditional Western European and North American spawning ground. So long as the role of internationalism is limited to the determination of uniform standards and measures, and the equitable resolution of disputes, we'll be OK. But the would-be ideologues who think that one size must fit all are still out there, and thay have huge legions of obedient dummies ready and willing to do their dirty work.
