Just because he's a billionaire doesn't mean he shouldn't have the same perks that any other president has had.
Like I said, when his security expenses exceed those of the Obamas, someone let us know. Till then, it's non news.
I don't know...with as many families that fall under the umbrella of "Trump's family" (4 adult children, 2 of which have their own families, multiple households) it seems prudent to keep close tabs on costs. If Obama's very small family was that expensive to protect, and he had minor children who lived with him full-time, and less residences...Trump's costs will be exponentially higher.
If tRump's grown kids had any moral character, they'd decline the SS (they have the right to do so)...they are (according to Daddy) all billionaire beneficiaries of the yuuuuuge tRump empire.
Of course, moral character genes are hereditary and the tRump gene pool is a tad shallow in that department.
Suddenly the anti-Trumpers don't like vacations anymore but they were quiet during Obama's trip to hawaii... golf courses, supporting Hillary Clinton... I believe Obama vetoed ending lifetime security as well as doing away with allowances....

Why wait until we've already spent billions?
I didn't say don't keep tabs on it. I just said let us know if it goes over a billion dollars in a year.
I have no problem with Secret Service coverage for wife and minor children (who live within the household).
But these richy rich grown kids with their billion dollar businesses, should decline SS protection and pay for their own private security. They can well afford it.
The cost is for running the whole White house including
personnel such as staff, cooks, cleaners etc. etc.
So not the true cost of security.
Well, it's unclear - here's what it says under the "security" tab (the other ones about staffing, etc are under separate tabs):
Quote:
Security Perhaps the biggest concern for the President and the First Family, at least in terms of taxpayer dollars, is security. Due to the extremely high profile of virtually everyone in close connection with any sitting President, a huge team of secret service security agents must be employed at all times to protect the President and anyone in the President's immediate family. According to the Brookings Institution's Bradley Patterson, these expenses were among the largest for the Obama presidency. All told, the cost to taxpayers associated with running the White House under President Obama was approximately $1.4 billion per year.

So it's unclear. What IS clear is that out of that 1.4 BILLION dollars per year, security was the biggest concern and tax payer expense.
Maintaining the Obama First Family cost tax payers 1.4 BILLION dollars per year. That is more than it cost to maintain the Royal Family in England, by the way.
That breaks down to nearly 4 MILLION DOLLARS PER DAY. Let us know if and when the Trump family costs more than 3.8 million dollars a DAY to maintain.
Actually the costs are ridiculous any way you slice it.
