How 'sweet' of them.

Newest Silicon Valley perk: Paid time off to protest Trump - LA Times

Quote:
Silicon Valley firms have long been known for offering a litany of employee perks: fresh-cooked lunches, free massages, climbing walls and dog-friendly offices.

Now some are adding yet another incentive to attract and retain workers: paid time off to protest.

Fauna, a San Francisco database start-up, recently began allowing its 13 employees to take unlimited paid leave to participate in rallies, vote, write letters to elected officials and take part in other civic activities. Before February, employees could take time off on an as-needed basis. But the political climate — and polarization — since President Trump's inauguration called for more defined measures, said Amna Pervez, director of recruiting and retention.

People can, but people won't.

Have faith in humanity for once. You must have grown up surrounded by bad people or what?

I doubt this 'start up' will last long. Sounds like a ploy to get into the news.

I've got no problem with this. Silicon Valley stands to be hurt a lot under Trump policies. Why shouldn't they make their voices heard?

And what private companies choose to offer as benefits to their employees is their business. That's what capitalism is all about, right?

No. It is the business of the bank or venture capitalist who is sponsoring them.

Indeed.

Which means this is none of our business unless one of us happens to be the VC funding this company. And I'd think some Silicon Valley VC would be in full support of such an arrangement since many were forced to be political lately in light of what happened recently.
