Not a surprise at all. The Chinese dont consider deals in order to curry political favors to be necessarily a bad thing.

That's why the onus is the United States to stick to its ethics and morals and LAWS, especially the President(rolls eyes)

It helps being the president.
It's a trademark, a trademark he applied for 10 years ago.

Default China awards Trump a Trademark (and it looks like a quid pro quo)

Giving it to you from Fox since you won't believe other sources.

China awards Trump valuable new trademark | Fox News

Quote:
SHANGHAI – China has awarded President Donald Trump a valuable new trademark. The win comes after a 10-year dispute and raises a host of ethical questions about the president's foreign intellectual property.
Note that this comes after Trump backed down on trying out the two China policy.
The fact that this decision comes just days after a conversation between President Trump and President Xi Jinping where President Trump reaffirmed the U.S. policy of ‘One China’ is even more disturbing as it gives the obvious impression of a quid pro quo.

Note that this is probably a conflict of interest.

Recent Trump win on China trademark raises ethics questions | Fox News

Quote:
Richard Painter, chief White House ethics lawyer under President George W. Bush, called the situation "highly improper." Since foreign governments know Trump cares deeply about his family's business, Painter said, "they will give him what he wants and they will expect stuff in return."
Not particularly pertinent, but I thought this was funny:

Quote:
The company applied for its Trump mark in 2002. The Chinese name brings together ideas of innovation and popularity and has nothing to do with President Trump, said Zhong Jiye, another founder. And in English, the "U'' makes a nice toilet-seat shape for their logo.
Quote:
People use Trump toilets some 100 million times a year, said Zhong Jiye

So much for when he said "China is laughing at us !" during the election. Funny how he now loves them.

If I were a Trump supporter that he out and out lied to during the election, I would be super angry right now.

China has awarded Donald Trump a 10-year trademark for construction services in his own name, a decade after the businessman began his attempts to have the measure approved.

Let's also remember that Trump never said he wouldn't honor the one China policy.
It is a bit suspicious that it was approved NOW just days after he talked to them and said he would continue the one china policy. Also note that he managed to push out a competitor who had already applied for the trademark and since China generally does a first come, first served trademark, they upended their policy for him.

Quote:
Trump applied for rights to the Trump mark for construction services on Dec. 7, 2006, but a man named Dong Wei had filed a similar application about two weeks earlier. China works on a first-come-first-served basis for trademarks, and the Trademark Office rejected Trump's application.

China will expect him to reciprocate.

Also, bribing the Chinese has gotten many US companies in legal hot water.

Trump bought this favor.

There are ethical concerns.

Which was magically approved when Trump became president and pulled some strings to appease China.

You lefties are nuts. Getting a trademark is not a business deal. It only gives the company exclusive rights to use its own name and prevents others from stealing it, something the Chinese are known for.

Not particularly pertinent, but I thought this was funny:
Some people wont believe anything unless it comes from the mouth of Trump, Spicy, or Breitbart.
