I have climate research scientist friends, and they're very fearful that their work won't be preserved - they're worried about their jobs, of course, but they're actually more worried that their data and past work will just be wiped away. Basically like what they did never even happened.
That is depressingly sad that this is where we are in regards to science policy.
This Presidency is going to set us back in many scientific fields, and that's not a good thing (no matter how people who don't understand or care about the science want to spin it).
Instead of suffering from this inchoate and unjustified fear and beefing about it, perhaps they should find ways to work with their scientific colleagues to advance the nation's and government's understanding. You know, like how scientists are supposed to work, and did work in the nuclear area. Unfortunately, so many "climate scientists" went political and when the winds change.....
One could see a scenario where regulations are lifted to such a degree that farmers fully exploit them, food production is made less safe and the public starts getting their food from other sources including globally. Those same farmers that love the end of government regulations (but love their government farm subsidies) resulting in a segment of the population becoming even more poor because no one wants to buy their goods.
The primary issue with farming is fertilizers, phosphates and nitrates that lead to excessive aquatic plant growth in waterways. that leads to an excessive amount of oxygen consuming bacteria and they end up causing a depletion of oxygen and the fish can't survive.
This is not permanent problem, while the run off from farming should not be ignored we should be concentrating on other sources like fertilizers for grass.

The anti intellectuals are in charge. I expect the book burnings to commence by mid year.
And? You seem to be under the impression that means they get to do whatever the hell they want. That is not the case. They work for everyone, not just environmental groups. They need to work with business, not against them

They still are...what makes you think they aren't?
If anything, they're more energized than they have ever been.

It's only become "political" because people in a particular party started denying the data and conclusions. Obfuscation has become the name of the game for them...It's too bad that that party actually used to be rather pro-science (and at one time was a big proponent of climate change research). It's sad that "facts" have become political...

Your concern is working with Environmental groups when we are talking about the Environmental Protection Agency.
Were you complaining when the EPA was colluding with environmental groups?
That is two way street, when EPA officials have connections with environmental groups?
Now why wouldn't you expect the EPA to have connections to environmental groups and other research groups. Pruitt brought in lawyers funded by the fossil fuel industry while he was a state AG.
Why wouldn't the Dept of education meet with teacher or the Energy department meet with nuclear power companies.

If you happen to have a piece of property with a small creek running through it and a Federal Government agency takes control of it, that's a government agency that is out of control.
When water sits too long on a piece of property because of two inches of rain and a federal government agency declares it to be a wet land, that's a government agency that is out of control.
First thing Pruitt has to do is fire every Obama appointee and tell every employee to conform to his agenda or quit.
