You're being darn right I'm being petty. And you should be too. Why do we have to pay for all of this. Melania is costing us at least $500,000 a day to protect her in NY. Just think what that money could go towards.
Did you have these opinions regarding other presidents?

That's pretty silly. And I suggested some alternatives, some middle ground.
I do not have a problem with the president and his or her family being protected. Not at all. But I do think presidents should be mindful of the fact they're spending our money. And therefore spend it wisely.

1. Do we really need to be paying for his adult children? Barron, of course. Tiffany, fine, she's young enough to still be dependent. No problem. But the successful adults in their 30s? Have we always done that?

Since Trump has no experience; his primary claim-to-fame has been his amazingly successful businesses that have brought in billions and billions of dollars (according to him) so, since thats his schtick, he needs to pony up. That's the "proof" he offered up as to why he's qualified to do this job---->I'm so smart, and great at business and negotiating. I'm rich!
#1. The SS protects the POTUS AND his family.
FAMILY.
No age or income requirement precludes a direct family member.
#2. A resume consisting of "community organizer" and "never showed up to vote" doesn't exactly make one a great candidate for POTUS. But he won. 2x. Without any successful business to brag about or any business acumen. So "Community Organizer" + "color of skin" got him elected in his hometown/city & then 8 years in the oval.
He walked in to the White House worth how much? Walked out worth how much "richer"? Millions were made in those 8 years....which the annual POTUS salary does NOT make up for.
Obama wanted to extend the protection of the secret service for a lifetime & he did (Former Presidents Protection Act)... b/c he knows once all of his BS gets out there/leaked? He's going to need it.

Melania is entitled to have her son finish the school year where he is.
She as the wife of the president and he as the son of the president are entitled to SS protection.
Even if they were not living there, the residence would have SS protection.
It doesn't matter what the money could go to. The president and his family are entitled to protection.
Period. End of story. Get over it.
BTW are you this worked up over the protection the Obamas are getting on their island vacation for the last week or two?
