All of us have rules at work that we have to follow, and he did not follow the rules. It was not his job to do what he did, regardless of the circumstances.

You might not like it, but that job belongs to others to do.

I'm sure Conway Tweeter will be tweeting up a storm about this one, and blowing it out of proportions.

Do troopers not take an oath to uphold all laws. He should get an award. Keeping American laws from being enforced should carry a charge of treason for the one who did not like that he reported the criminal. The leaders of cities protecting law breakers should be charged with treason also. Our country has been hostilely invaded.

Funny - but if the story was State Trooper refuses to lead ICE to illegal alien criminal - you'd be applauding him.

What a sad and pathetic time in history we are living in. When liberal, progressive, socialist and Marxist politicians can openly declare our international borders invalid, or declare our federal border and immigration laws invalid, without a lawful, legal or constitutional authority to do so, our nation is no longer a nation of laws. We are simply a nation of whims downgraded to the lowest common denominator, in an attempt to appease societal scum and lawbreakers, by the very politicians and State lawmakers who swore an oath to protect and defend both their State Constitution and the US Constitution. They swore an oath to uphold the laws written in accordance to these Constitutions.

Can these scumbag liberal, progressive, socialist and Marxist politicians just arbitrarily declare ANY law unlawful or unenforceable, the respective Constitutions be damned? Every single person, especially politicians and government officials who took an oath of office, involved in attempting to interfere with our nation's immigration and border laws should be charged with and convicted of felonies for these egregious acts against our nation's laws, then they should be sentenced to no less that 20 years in federal prison.

There is a lawful, legal and constitutional method to go about changing the laws in this country if these people don't like the current laws on the books. It may be an uphill battle, and they may not win that battle, but to thumb their nose at our laws, willfully interfering with the enforcement of these laws... they deserve no less than hard time in federal prison.

But that's just MY opinion.

Actually, the article makes it look like he didn't break the rule that was quoted in the article. And, by the way, federal law requires him to notify ICE.

this is an outrage, the trooper needs to be exonerated, and the powers that be in washington st need to realize that the illegal alien in question was in fact a convicted criminal and should have been deported, even under obama.

As someone who has been caught in the middle of conflicting federal law, state law, agency regulations, and company policy, I can tell you that no matter what you do you will violate at least one of them. And when you do, nobody is going to stand up for you. The best thing to do is just quit instead of subjecting yourself to that kind of stress.

The trooper does NOT have access to what criteria a detainee has regarding to immigration status. So then he is assuming or profiling. Sorry. And why do a job that they pay agents 2x or 3x as much. Silly...
