If the whole thing is "bullcrap" then why has it already cost one member of the administration his job?
We know Trump wanted Russia to interfere in the election because he said so. We also know that at least one of his advisers was talking to the Russians and engaging in a bit of light treason.
As much as Donald Trump wishes the talk of a Russian/Trump connection during the election would go away, it is not going to happen the way he wants. This one is too important to sweep under the carpet, and there will be hearings and investigations.
I would think that people on both sides want this resolved once and for all. No way this Presidency can go on with a cloud of suspicion over it's head. If nothing is found, ok, but if something is there, we need to know.
The left and media are determined to undermine his entire presidency. When the Russia scandal gets closed out, they will simply fabricate the next one.
Which ones? His background as a fraud and cheat? His demonizing of brown people? Alienating longtime allies with no provocation? Stocking his cabinet with similarly inexperienced elitist billionaire corporate cronies?

Moreover, you said it yourself: just 4-5 years back, the GOP's golden boy was touting Russia as the big bad bad guy of the world and the party was vocally in agreement about it.
Now that trump is kissing Putin's butt at every opportunity, the republican story is "So what? It's Russia! They're cool, right?"
Talk about shameless hypocritical flip-flopping...
