I don't know if they think they won, with the future going their way. Or just didn't lose like when Governor Schwarzenegger won for the last gasp of the Californian Republicans but for that first four years they had not yet lost.

And I say this as a person who did not want Hillary's policies either. I just haven't drunk enough of the kool-aide to think that Trump's policies are any better. They were both woefully flawed candidates, the worst I have seen in my lifetime. Two candidates each pandering to the lowest common denominator of their respective sides.

First off it will also depend on what the Dem candiate. There is no proof that people agree with a lot of the Dems extreme
Stances like open borders, sanctuary cities, federal funding for abortion, demonizing all cops as racist setc

True or false?
OMG that is the furthest thing from what is happening. No, it shows what trouble the Dems are in unless they can come up with some acceptable candidates and interesting ideas.

Trump has added a flair to the GOP for action. The Dims are not contributing in no fashion and they further damage themselves.

Depends on how much Trump and the GOP stick it to the American People. Their problem is no matter how much they may try and blame the Democrats no one is going to buy it, so all the praise or blame will fall upon them. So far what they have been doing will stick to many Americans, including many that supported them, if that trend continues the Dems will sadly be back in power before you know it and the GOP will have lost the credibility with the voters that they need to garner enough support to be a major player. Me thinks it is time for the American People to start looking or building an alternative to the Big Two, a Party that serves the People and Nation over those of special interests, so that there is actual viable alternative, there is at least 48% of voters that would be automatically interested in something better.

I agree. Dems can even put out Maxine Waters next time and win

The Republican party is on the wrong side of history. It tries to maintain the false claim that climate science is a hoax. This will eventually catch up with them.

It supports the big money agenda of the Koch brothers, Goldman Sachs and Exxon, even though most voters are wary of these entities.

And contrary to what a lot of new Republicans are thinking, the Republican party has always been the principle champion of free unhindered trade across borders, and actually still is.

In spite of all of that, these things are not going to spell the end of the party any time soon. Today isn't like the 19th century when people stopped supporting a party it faded away. In the modern age parties are supported by donors, not voters. This is particularly true of the Republican party. It will keep going until the money runs out.

The money donors give buys influence, pays for propaganda and fronts advocacy groups to split the electorate on hot-button wedge issues. It is a sophisticated model of human resource management, but instead of employees the subject is voters. The techniques of manipulation are basically the same.

Big money needs a voice. As long as we have dark money in politics it will need a mouthpiece, and the Republican party does that very well.
