I'm not happy about Melania living in New York and costing the taxpayers an estimated $500,000 a day in extra security. While I admire her love of her child, ever child of every other president moved to the White House when his/her father was elected.
I think she is just using Barron as an excuse to not have to live with tRUMP! It is plain to see when these two are together, that there is no love between them, if even 'like'! She is probably thinking and hoping, "why move, by the time the school year ends tRUMP will be finished as POTUS and they won't have to move.
Ok, so he'll donate the other $399,999 back to treasury. Problem solved.
Since Trump hasn't paid federal income taxes in better than a decade, it would be a decent gesture.
But I doubt he will do this.
Remember the fundraiser for the vets in lieu of one of the debate? Trump had to be hounded to turn over that money, and it is still unclear if he actually turned it all over.

I wish people could voice an opinion without the other party replying with sarcasm! When will this stop? Also, perhaps it would be wise for the American people to push for the leader of our nation to have a set budget for these type of things! For instance, if he gets 4 weeks vacation per year, that's all we are going to pay for his secret service coverage. Anything beyond that is on his dime. When someone runs for President, they know that the WH is the temporary home for the next 4-8 years.
They could be living in worse conditions!

Taxpayers should not have to pay for security once the POTUS is out of office either for the rest of their lives!
DC voted against Trump by an enormous margin. 90% of DC voted for Hillary. 4% voted for Trump. Probably part of the reason he's never here. This city absolutely despises him. Unlike Obama and Michelle who went out to dinner, or the local gym, Trump can't walk out the front door without crowds of protesters.
You bring up a good point. That's probably really difficult for someone who thrives on adulation.
Trump-heads could at least admit they're being hypocrites on this matter.
It sounds like Obama's supporters took a lot of his criticism to heart over the last 8 years. Just FYI, Trump supporters like me wouldn't care if Trump played golf every day for the rest of his presidency. He'd still manage to get more work done on the course than Obama did in 8 years.

Trump is widely despised in both NY and DC.
At Mar-a-Lago, Trump is surrounded by employees who stand and clap when he appears and people who pay $200K to be in his presence. Much better for the old ego.
There is the added benefit of all the free publicity for Mar-a-Lago.
