Any President who allowed this to go on - and there have been several .. from both parties .. is to blame (not that 'blame' does much good right now). It is going to take a President (and I think Trump is the one) who will actually stand up for America and say, that was then and this is now. We have both the right and the need to enforce our own immigration policies and borders just like ANY other country.

Frankly, it seems no one ever really grows up. This is just like a child who is today allowed to have a certain toy and tomorrow has it taken away because he threw it across the room and broke a vase. He throws tantrums. He screams you aren't being fair. He stomps his feet and tries to hit his mommy's leg furiously. If mommy is smart, she picks said child up, tells him why he can't have the toy back, asks him to apologize for what he did and puts him down for a nap. If mommy is not smart, she allows the noise to go on, gives the kid a cookie and hands him back his toy and two more, and apologizes to him.

We let this go on way too long. It is going to hurt to fix it - on both sides. But, it will hurt more in the long run if we don't fix it so let's just get on with the job. Let them holler and scream. We will all live in the end - and hopefully at least our side will be better off for having finally taken a stand and done the right thing.
The "Right thing," would be to change the immigration laws to let people work to become citizens of America. Destroying families is not the "Right thing."

Why not build bridges, instead of walls literally or figuratively. Mexico and the US could be countries of the future. Cities that gleam. Cities of hope. Both countries have so much to offer. With the different cultures and land masses. Food can be grown for the world. No more starving people. Spend money on finding cures for diseases, like Alzheimers, cancer, addictions of all kinds.

Throwing money to the wind in the name of hate, never works in the long run. IMO

Define "it."

This is an idealistic vision , but Mexico is a corrupt country .

Also how is it destroying families ?
Destroying families is when an illegal alien kills someone whether it be a gang shooting or a DUI .

Many families have to move but it doesn't mean they get "destroyed "

Excuse me, enforcing our immigration laws is picking a fight?
Upset with mexico about whatever. Really?
So your logic is the USA should consult and appease our nearest neighbors when making or enforcing laws pertaining to our country.

You're country, millions of your people(illegals), and drug cartels have **** on the US for decades.

If illegals come through your country from any other country we will deport them back to your country.

The days of getting **** on are over
Nothing will stop the flow of drugs when they can make meth for $3/kilo and sell it here on the streets for 30-50x that.

Further we're a large exporter of guns to their country, which of course supports the cartels and make their Government's job very hard when trying to enforce laws.

It's laughable that a nation that encourages its citizens (both directly or indirectly) to leave its nation and invade a bordering nation would have the gall to show disdain. We're not the bad guys here and no amount of name calling (you forgot to call us bigots and racists) will change that. Every nation has the right to secure its borders, control who comes into that nation, and remove those who willingly choose to break the law.

You accuse the United States of picking fights. I would submit that it is Mexico picking a fight. They do nothing to secure the safety of their citizens and do nothing to provide stable economic policies that would encourage job growth and financial opportunity for its citizens. And now.........now...........when the US finally has a president willing to try and secure the border, Mexico wants to play the angry victim. Fix your own country. Do right by your own people. Invest in your own people and invest in the stability and security of your nation. Look to your own behavior on a national level, before you start getting angry at America and the American people who have finally demanded that uncontrolled, illegal immigration needs to stop. And stop making the the US the pressure release valve for everything that ails you.

This entire conversation (and all the hand wringing associated with it) is ridiculous. We are a sovereign nation or we're not. We know who comes into this country or we don't. We control our borders or we don't. We do everything we can to keep our own citizens safe or we don't. There is no middle ground on this issue.

Having said all of that the battle cry by Trump "Who's going to pay for the wall? Mexico!!" needs to stop. It is unhelpful, divisive and directly insults the nation of Mexico. Mexico can pay for it in innumerable ways that do not include Mexico actually writing a check to the US. This administration needs to implement whatever policies they come up with, and do it without publicly throwing it into the face of Mexico.

The govt of Mexico needs to be held accountable for allowing and encouraging millions of its citizens to violate our borders. No one has ever asked them why they do nothing. Trump needs to tell them in no uncertain terms that the dam wall has to be built because we cant trust them to keep their citizens from invading us. They dont want the wall, THEN STOP THE INVASION!

If they came by plane, why can't they immigrate legally. Sure seems they have the resources to do so. Deport them.

I like how those who came from another country, illegally, believe that they can rewrite our immigration policies to suit their needs and wishes.....criminal and completely insane for America to even entertain those ideas....ideas based on immigrants who often are just here for the bennies and do not pursue citizenship......they do NOT care one iota about Americans or the country.

We are their golden cash cow...the taxpayers

And large corporations do not give a crap either, the illegals are cheap labor who they can overwork and abuse ( if they stick around to take the employers crap) since they typically cannot do that to US citizens "yet"..... but it is coming....

Sorry, those immigrants who give a sh$t about this country should get down to the immigration office and file paperwork to start the process of citizenship. And pay taxes. I have absolutely no problem with people who abide by our laws and contribute to our society......and that does not include being in this country to collect bennies...new citizens should not be able to get welfare until a legal resident for 5 years. In Mexico, there is "never" benefits to non-native citizens. Most countries limit any benefits to those non native citizens until they have contributed to their new country for 10 years.

Try pulling this BS in Mexico...hey Gringo...follow our laws or riot in jail

What is good for the goose is good for the gander, guys...we should have very, very similar immigration laws...equal laws promotes equal respect. Our borders are very important, as is the Mexican border.
