The up side if it does happen to be "built more" I hope that will help then from getting so many guns from the US that end up killing the Mexican people.

The down side is many people live in Mexico and work across the border in US or vice versa so there has to be a way for them to continue. The other downside is the money it costs to build it. Also Trump wants way more federal security forces down there and it may turn into a Police state there.

Did you all know there is already a wall and it fails all the time?

What other ulterior motives might Trump and his people have?

From the article above "The executive order attempts to clear away some of the other obstacles associated with building a massive structure across hundreds of miles of border; for example, it allows federal agents to access border land for security reasons, which could make it harder to sue the Trump administration for violating environmental regulations by building on protected land."

Many miles of just barbed wire fencing, that the private property owner has placed to keep his cattle from escaping.
Most of Texas has a riverbed as the border. Unless we tell Mexico FU and build a wall on their side of the Rio Grande, there will never be a wall there and during times of drought, they can hop-skip & jump across without getting their backs wet, much less their feet.

The 700 mile wall already approved by congress needs to be built. It's a double layered wall not some flimsy fence. Mexicans coming here illegally to work should not be allowed to do that. They have taken jobs from Americans. Why shouldn't we have more security on our southern border where millions have been able to violate it and it's not just Mexicans seeking work that are getting in here. The drug cartels, criminals and terrorists are getting thru also. There will always be legal ports of entry.

Illegals cost us $113 billion a year the wall would cost no more than $25 billion and yet you are concerned about the costs? Ulterior motives? I assure you that Trump supporters nor Trump has any ulterior motives. Are you playing the race card here?

They built the wall between Tijuana and southern Calif. It stopped the criminals from crossing, so they moved over to AZ to cross. That says the wall worked and we need it extended.

If you sneak into Mexico you can get 2 years in prison. If you sneak in a second time you can get 10 years. Why are we so slow to learn what works?

^^^^I was just going to post this!

That wall you speak of has drastically cut down on illegal crossings and crime.

It was built during Bill Clinton's presidency.

Some times there are waits but there is no problem for LEGAL workers coming across the border. I work with many people that live in TJ and work here.

Quote:
The intense focus on building up the border has carried a hefty price tag. Between 1993 and 2007, the cost of border enforcement has escalated by 590 percent and this figure does not include the cost of constructing the barriers themselves which can cost anywhere from two to three million dollars per mile depending on varying topography, materials, and price of lands.
The wall has all sorts of problems, not just cost.

Architects have called the border wall a "pharaonic project" and a misplaced infrastructure priority. Environmentalists say it will continue to cut off the flow of water and wildlife in a changing climate but is little more than political grandstanding that won't keep out people.
Quote:
"In terms of climate adaptation, building a border wall is an act of self-sabotage," said Dan Millis, a program manager with the Sierra Club's Borderlands project. "And the reason I say that is we're already seeing wildlife migrations blocked with the current walls and fences that have already been built. We have hundreds of these walls that were built without dozens of environmental protections."

There will be plenty of places for animals to migrate. These will also be under heavy surveillance. We have a couple of places along the SD sector like that.

Go to a border crossing and you use to be able to walk back and forth freely across the bridge. Coming back they never asked if I was American, they just wanted to know if I was declaring any imports.
