And where in the news do you see that the Commonwealth has asked the U.S. to become an associate member?

The numerous Press Articles I posted and the quote from the Royal Commonwealth Society Director Michael Lake.

Royal Commonwealth Society Director Michael Lake stated that it was a “cheap and cheerful way to strengthen friendly relationships” between the US, the UK and Commonwealth countries.

And he admitted that the organisation had been “a little bit introspective” in the past, and it needed to be “more outward looking” in future.

Mr Lake said that being an actual member of the Commonwealth was a “very, very long step and very unlikely” but that there were some who would like to see an “associate membership” being put on the table.

“There is a body of thinking… that the Commonwealth might become a much broader church by opening up the opportunity for associate membership, friends of the Commonwealth,” he said.

Nigel Farage delivered a letter to Trump from Mr Lake regarding the possibility of associated membership and the Royal Commonwealth Office will open a branch in NYC in order to promote the Commonwealth.

None of those quotes support your claim

He states it clealy in the statement, as for the Royal Commonwealth Society it just supports and promotes the Commonwealth, that's it's role.

so you're saying that the RCS promoting the idea of the commonwealth is identical to the commonwealth making the United States government a membership offer.

Try reading the articles.

The prospect of the US becoming a so-called "associate member" of the Commonwealth has been raised as the Royal Commonwealth Society makes plans to open a branch in the country.

Director of the society Michael Lake reportedly wrote a letter to the new Donald Trump-led US administration to gauge interest in the plan towards the end of last year.

Mr Lake would like the Commonwealth opened up, and there to be an associate membership and is gauging the views of the Trump Administration in relation to the US becoming an associate member.

UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, etc are all already full members.

As for the Royal Commonwealth Society, it's a network of individuals and organisations as opposed to countries.

They might speak English, but they're very different people from Brits, Australians and Kiwis.

It is only associate membership, we are not planning on invading.

You will just have to drink lots of Tea and watch Cricket.
