Apparently the Donald's press secretary pulled a stunt today and took selected Press Pool members, plus pro Trump outlets, from the daily briefing and moved them to a private setting. Anyone else at the daily press briefing was excluded. When the entire group tried to move with the selected pool, they were blocked.

Bannon said yesterday we "were never going to get our country back. Never". This is another major step in that direction.

Whatever your politics, controlling the Army (cabinet) and now attempting to control the news media are two BIG steps toward an autocratic government. This MUST be stopped before all of our rights are co-opted by a lunatic.

Good for Trump if this happened.

This is very worrying, and rather astounding that they are moving towards Fascism so quickly, surely America won't just accept this?

At least some major news outlets were allowed in the "gaggle" in Spicer's office.

A number of major news organizations were also let in to cover the gaggle. That group included ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Reuters, Bloomberg and McClatchy.

He didn't block the press, he blocked people like CNN and Buzzfeed... huge difference.

They don't have on air press briefings on days when the President gives a major speech like he did today at CPAC.

There is a full contingent, of ALL media covering him at CPAC. The complete derangement never stops.

Reporters from The Times, CNN and Politico were not allowed to enter the West Wing office of the press secretary, Sean M. Spicer, for the scheduled briefing. Aides to Mr. Spicer allowed in reporters from only a handpicked group of news organizations that, the White House said, had been previously confirmed to attend.
Organizations allowed in included Breitbart News, the One America News Network and The Washington Times, all with conservative leanings. Journalists from ABC, CBS, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Fox News also attended.

This is pure evil. First they suppress the mainstream media from answering questions during press briefings in favor of easy questions from 'the far right', then they call the mainstream media out on Twitter for being America's enemy and now they are shunning them?!

Who's the enemy now?

They claim they don't like leaks but what they are doing is just to encourage more leaks. The people deserve to know the truth and there will be insiders who will be too happy give the public what they demand.... the truth about this corrupt and incompetent administration!

Well, Bannon believes strange things, I think. Like the end is near and we will be destroyed. Nut case.

As for silencing the press except when they agree with him, this started a little while ago and it is very scary as well as wrong. We have freedom of the press. When a leader starts silencing the press, that's a sign that they want us only to believe what they say and not be able to know of other opinions. Totalitarian.

If they don't want us to think this is a totalitarian government, they'd better give us a reason to believe it. Silencing the press doesn't look too good.

The fact is the news media is supposed to control the news media and when they finally get themselves under control and recognize what their real job is (to fairly and completely report the news without slant) then their 'access' (which is all that is being perhaps in minor scope being curtailed here - but even then we don't KNOW that) to White House news will probably increase as they become more trustworthy.

I think President Trump's team has put up with more than enough as it is. I personally would have gone much further and taken away the credentials (for access to the White House newsroom/pool, etc.) completely till I saw that things had calmed down and we were turning a corner to some of the these organizations beginning to report properly all they should and stop editorializing everything negatively. If they want the stories out of this particular source, they should cooperate and acknowledge THEIR responsibilities too. If they don't, then fine .. go do local news or don't get the news from the White House first hand any more.
