The only reason why the republican party says man-made global warming is a hoax is because combating global warming would decrease the profits in the large corporations that fund the US republican party.

I actually have taken the trouble to look at normal (i.e. past 30 year temperatures) for a scattershot of dates in New York City for the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's as contrasted with the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's (single digits). There are some dates that the 30 year rolling average rose and some dates where it dropped. There was little trend. I wonder if that holds true elsewhere.

If there are cities with major changes over rolling periods, I'd like to know about them.
