A guy called Nils Bildt was called an expert on Swedish National Security on the O'Reilly Factor. The problem is that nobody knows who the hell this guy is. Apparently he left Sweden in 1994 and has no credentials whatsoever.
This could open up a lot of job opportunities for all of us. I could say I'm a navy expert. Hire me!
Who is Nils Bildt? Swedish ‘national security advisor’ interviewed by Fox News is a mystery to Swedes
What?
eta: sorry, this has been covered. I looked for it, but found it too late.
Quote:
Nils Bildt, billed as a “Swedish defense and national security advisor” by Fox News, told O'Reilly that Naslund was “rather incorrect” and that there had been big problems with integrating immigrants into Swedish society. “These things are not being openly and honestly discussed,” Bildt said.
Seems that neither the Swedish armed forces nor the Foreign Ministry had heard of Bildt. Johan Wiktorin, a fellow at the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences, tweeted he'd not heard of him either.
It could be because Bildt, formerly known as Tolling, immigrated from Sweden in 1994. In 2014, he was convicted of a violent offense in Virginia and sent to prison.
Apparently, he is out now and working for Fox News.
Though how Fox folks imagine a man who has not lived in Sweden in over two decades (and has been imprisoned until recently) is an expert on Swedish national security issues is somewhat of a mystery.
