I don't know what that has to do with this, but since you brought it up, I'll take Fox News any day over any of the Democrat controlled left-wing networks that do nothing but lie. Apparently you believe the propaganda they dish out on a daily basis.

If the president hadn't of tweeted out a personal attack on a US citizen, no one would remember her speech. Others made political remarks at the Golden Globes, but do we remember who said what? Doubtful, since Trumps 5am **** Tweet was only attacking one person.

I can't decide if it's funny or creepy when the right parrots Trumps views on things that are of little relevance to politics. But man, he tweets out that Streep is an overrated actor, and suddenly all his supporters are against her.
All of President Trump's supporters are against Meryl Streep? Please validate that statement by listing everyone who is against Streep.

President Trump was correct, she is over-rated.

Get used to having a President who is not a wimp and who will not cower when someone makes false statements about him. Streep caused her own downfall by spewing vile.

If you like her play acting in movies, so bet it. However, in real life, she is a very destructive individual.

I'm so glad you're here. Without you, this thread would be just 2 pages.

Dissecting the performance? Again, its just a movie. A movie that I liked and show no hostility towards. Is it really that difficult to understand that people can like more then one movie? And that for whatever reason they liked one movie just a bit more? It has nothing to do with it being a war movie, or whatever else you think I feel about the subject. There are war movies that I like better than Manchester by the Sea. There were even movies that came out in the past year that I liked better than Manchester by the Sea. It just happens that Hacksaw Ridge was not one of them. But again, I liked the movie, just not as much as others.
We'll just have to chalk it up to communicating differently/interpreting things differently I guess. I think my posts show that I'm trying to have a sense of humor about this, and that I don't mean you any Ill will. My 'reading in' is largely answering your questions about previous posts. I wasn't trying to be combative with anyone one this thread. I only jumped into the middle between you and Hellion1999 because I thought you were trying to say that Hacksaw Ridge wasn't based on a true story...nothing more (and it turned out that we eventually got around to clarifying that you were NOT trying to say that).

I agree with you about Arrival , that was my least favorite of the choices as well.

To avoid conflict....lets just take war movies out of the equation .

Irrespective of that, you seem as though you really like movies for their own sake .

I do as well .

As I stated in my long first post on this thread (that had my choices), I don't attach politics to whether I'm going to see nominated movies or not. I just suspend that for the awards season.....and I have always had that view no matter where my politics are at the time (a wide range over the years). I just get too much enjoyment out of it. As the thread went along...lets say page 20 where I joined in until page 35, about one-third of the posts seemed truly interested in the movies, and the other two-thirds were what I found to be joy killing political statements on both sides of the aisle. Since it is a P&OC thread, perhaps I was hijacking the thread by talking about my movie choices among the nominations rather than other points that would be closer to topic....but one other person did post that they liked that the thread was providing updates . After signing off, I thought that the political posts on this thread would be the end of it....but on television and on the radio in the car...ugh...more of the same. I heard that one former presidential candidate likened the thought of watching the awards to an uncomfortable cancer check procedure.

I refuse to 'release my joy' until I've seen (once fairly widely released on DVD) the 4 of the 17 films (that represent the 44 nominations I pay attention to) that I missed in theaters.......Loving, 20th Century Women, Elle, and Nocturnal Animals. After I see those, I'll refocus with a more political lens (re movie attendance decisions) until awards season next year.
