Guy goes to an ER to get a bandage put on his cut finger. Perhaps gets a couple of stitches too.
Receives a hospital bill of $17,000.00

You see where the problem lies in fixing the issue by providing health insurance coverage to people?

Our focus is at the wrong place.

Health care costs what it costs. It's zero sum. If you get substandard for profit insurance like we have in the US then you pay in premiums, co-pays and deductibles. If you have rest of the free world style insurance you pay in taxes.

Supposedly, California would lose $20 billion a year with the loss of ACA subsidies and Medi-Cal expandables would go from a 95% federal match to 50% federal match.

California is thinking about single-payer which if based on a past proposal the middle-class income tax would go from 10.2% to 14.2%

Corperate Income Tax which is 8.84% would be hiked another 7% to 15.84%

Can't wait and hope the Democratic party passes this single-payer system in California. Nevada right next door I am sure will have the red carpet for new business with it's zero state corperate and zero state income tax.

Hopefully, they go through with this expansion and corperations leave in droves to states like Nevada, Texas and Florida that salute new business.

Universal Healthcare for Illegals? | The Federalist Papers

Illegal Immigration Statistics in California

It would also cover illegal immigrants, which number 2.4 million in California.
Yep, many businesses and some of the affluent will leave, and the very ill & poor will move in. Sounds like a plan!

Have you done much traveling in the USA? Doesn't really sound like it.

Maybe you should come here to NC, one of the fastest growing states in the USA so we can show you around.

Listen to your fellow conservative allies in this thread. "Keep taxes low and support for the sick and disabled as weak as possible. Push the sick and disabled to California so we can get rid of them" Red state refugees will be a massive problem unless California bars all families with disabled children from red states entry to California. Red states will gut tax revenue in order to chase out families that need help. But California cant be expected to take care of all red state refugees. Thats very unreasonable.

These state income tax rates are not unreasonable at all imo.

California - Married Filing Jointly Tax Brackets
Tax Bracket Tax Rate

$0.00+ 1%
$15,700.00+ 2%
$37,220.00+ 4%
$58,744.00+ 6%
$81,546.00+ 8%
$103,060.00+ 9.3%
$526,444.00+ 10.3%
$631,732.00+ 11.3%
$1,000,000.00+ 12.3%
$1,052,886.00+ 13.3%

I think what we need to do is cut income federal tax rates for California and any other state that wants to provide single payer

Working stiffs from red states who think its so great with low taxes suddenly get disabled and cancer and think they can just jump ship to some place more compassionate. It doesnt work. Red state refugees must be barred entry sadly.
The same concerns apply to illegals coming up from south of the border, which CA wants to include in its health care plan.

It has to be done as a nation or not at all.
A Medicare for all system is what I see as working best. It would have to be coupled with a secure border to stop illegals from entering the country and some mechanism to stop foreigners with serious medical conditions from coming in on tourist visas simply to get free healthcare. Perhaps in order to get visas, their home countries would have to agree to cover any medical expenses their citizens incur here.
