Mr. Bannon is very likely one of the most powerful men in the Trump administration, also most likely to abuse his power, poor judgement at best, crazy a$$ war monger at worst.

So-called President demonstrated his bizarre reliance on Mr. Bannon & his bizarre dystopian fantasy based ideas on foreign policy when he 'demoted' the Joint Chiefs of Staff & Director of National Intelligence from his National Security Council by replacing them with Mr. Bannon.

I'm just waiting for Grump and his crotchety old extreme GOPers to start demanding we be allowed to use DDT again now that they've accomplished almost 0 by gutting the EPA.

Maybe we'll even be allowed to use lead in our gasoline again! Yay!

1. you info is outdated.... in RAW dollars ,.. yes we spend equal to the next 7 SEVEN countries

as a % of GDP.. our percent is only 3.3 of our GDP... it was 4% in 2009..... Russia spends 5.5% of its GDP

our military is at its weakest since the 1930's

our CURRENT defense budget is only 4.0% of our GNP....china spends 3.9% of its gdp on military.......right in comparison with the rest of the world at 2-6%

france's defense budget is 500 million euro...while their gdp is about 1.4 trillion.....our spending is 670 billion with a gdp of 18+ trillion.....so france actually spends MORE as a percentage of their gdp

defense spending as a % of GDP puts us at #29meaning 28 other countries spend MORE than us on their military as a percent of their gdp

we spend LESS now than we did 30 years ago(adjusted for inflation)
Are you including these in your calculations?

Military budget of the United States

"This does not include many military-related items that are outside of the Defense Department budget, such as nuclear weapons research, maintenance, cleanup, and production, which are in the Atomic Energy Defense Activities section,[17] Veterans Affairs, the Treasury Department's payments in pensions to military retirees and widows and their families, interest on debt incurred in past wars, or State Department financing of foreign arms sales and militarily-related development assistance. Neither does it include defense spending that is not military in nature, such as the Department of Homeland Security, counter-terrorism spending by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and intelligence-gathering spending by NSA."

Nope, France spends less as a percentage of GDP (btw, your numbers make no sense whatsoever).

Also, it is not very meaningful to look just at the percentages. So, say a tiny island nation decides to spend 30% on military, would it have a stronger military than US? Saudi Arabia spends the highest percentage, does it have stronger military than us? In other words we could easily spend LESS than we currently do as a percentage of GDP.

And look in the post above what's not included in the defense budget. I'm pretty sure all other countries with nuclear arsenal, consider the associated costs as part of their defense..

Also, who is paying for this, I certainly don't want to. Or it is going to be covered by the imaginary savings from the ACA repeal?

And even that LESS that we spend is two times as much as we should be spending.

I did. In the Airborne Infantry. And I don't see what that has to do with anything. This country spends too much on the military.
