20 years for this? I'm interested to see what those people in Chicago get who kidnapped a guy and live streamed his torture.
That is Chicago. The sentencing guidelines are different in Illinois. Georgia is a different story. I hope the thugs in Chicago get the book thrown at them.
I don't know. Having been victimized a few times, part of me thinks many criminals are more scared than sorry. Scared of the sentence they have to face. I don't find going around places screaming racial slurs and then pointing a gun at some kids anything to play with.
This is how I see prison. Prison is suppose to be both punishment and rehabilitation. Maybe said persons could change, but I don't trust it. I err on the side of fear. Many people often don't change.
FWIW, I live in Georgia, not to far from the places where those criminals committed their crimes.
People can change if they choose to, but for some it is to much trouble. They are more comfortable with the old way.
If a posse of black punks drove around a white neighborhood in Georgia pointing firearms, chances are they'd not survive to stand trial.
My residence isn't too far from that area. I know what kind of area that is. Paulding County/parts of Douglas County has some neighborhoods where if some Blacks thugs went around and tried that, it wouldn't end well. Places with that "redneck culture" embedded, it wouldn't end well. They could try it and live to tell about it in East Cobb, where there are alot of neighborhoods with $500,000+ homes and the "snob" types. You might have some gun-totting types out there. However, in Paulding County and Douglas County, much different vibes, especially in working class neighborhoods.
I would say the rioters in Ferguson and Baltimore were better examples of gang terrorism. This is just some people getting drunk and acting stupid and we should let them learn from their mistakes. I highly doubt they are hardcore violent criminals.
A judge disagreed.
