Sad to see the USA is not living up to our own standards, not even close these days. I guess ISIS is winning, this is exactly what they hoped for, a USA afraid of its own shadow . Trump's America is a win for ISIS and a win for Russia, our moral high ground that seemed so secure is an international joke.

Visa overstays are huge. We have no obligation to let them come here.

The USA has very strong vetting in place for those who wish to stay and live here. And we have an excellent visa system that allows many millions of visitors to come here for a whole bunch of reasons.

But instead of discussing this, you knee jerk > "we just gotta let everyone in" . Nobody here is asserting any such case. Almost every single citizen believes in border control, visas, and stopping dangerous people from coming here. The difference is most of the people on the left don't buy the myth that we are under imminent attack. They don't buy into Trump's made up fake urgency.

OBAMA, put in place the toughest vetting the world has ever seen. Obama is the "deporter in chief", he deported vast numbers of people, more than any president in modern times.

Trump made silly promises and now in order to keep them he is taking our existing tough standard to a level where it will do more harm than good. Worse than that his first ban was so bad and so foolish it was defeated every time in landed vaguely near a court.

The current system was working great, 16 years since 911 and no major attacks from non US terrorists on our soil.

A system that has worked for so long and has been improved repeatedly during that time. Yet the rightwing Trumpers want more for the sake of action, your side wants to allow innocents to be hurt just to prove your manliness. All Trump has done is alienate us from those who would be our allies, and prove to the terrorists there plan to make us fearful is working.
We have to keep out more than just dangerous people. We are overpopulated and most immigrants of today end up mooching off the system. Only the truly talented deserve to immigrate here.

The Boston marathon attack was "domestic" from your point of view, I guess, as was the San Bernadino episode.

we are not even vaguely close to over population, I suggest you travel and get an idea what it looks like. We have a very LOW density even when you exclude the hard to live in and uninhabitable areas.

pic clearly shows the us is fine.

Probably China's anger over recent diplomatic screwups by Trump, and him having to adhere to the "One China Policy" had something to do with it.

That's the way it's going to be. You heard it right from the President. Canada has been doing it for years.

We are incredibly overpopulated. Your comparison to third world countries and smaller countries with a higher proportion of shore to landlocked areas is laughable. Our population needs to be significantly reduced through immigration policy.
