Say what you want about Trump, however you can't deny that he's a man of his word. He's doing everything he said he'd do on the campaign trail. All of this was reiterated in his speech. Also I loved seeing the Dems sulking in their chairs like little children.
What I'm waiting to see is how Trump will reconcile what he said during the election to what he's proposing now with respect to the budget. He hammered on our 21 trillion dollar debt being unacceptable and IT IS, but now he's proposing a slew of big projects that cost serious $$$$$.
It'll be interesting to see how this gets paid for or even if...
To be fair, I don't watch presidents' speeches to congress regardless of which party is president. Too much standing and clapping. Allow the president to make his speech and save the applause or boos for after the speech. Same old garbage from congress. Party of the president stands and applauds after every few words while the opposing party sits on their hands. Makes me sick and both parties in congress do this every time.
The clapping is a very traditional ceremonial "thing" in Congress. Both parties fall over themselves when it's their guy doing the talking. It's just tradition. I don't understand why it drives people so mad for any reason other than we'd all like to see the speeches streamlined.
Has anyone here ever watched British Parliament? It's a hoot the way they simultaneously applaud and jeer one another. Again - it's just time-honored tradition.
I actually want to see who is clapping and who is not. There are always subjects that all of them should be for and it is interesting (and telling) to see the ones that are so partisan that they sit on their hands.
