For those that don't get it... read the comments. Two good comments...

As a gay man I gotta say this story was old 20+ years ago. Since then there is now at least one gay character on every TV show and in every movie. Why did ABC think there was an audience for this in 2017 ? I happily went back in the closet and live my own PRIVATE life. I don't want to be part of any movement. I just want to be myself. For me that does not include gay bars, drag queens,"Pride" parades ,White ( meth) Parties or whatever. Many gay men find those things revolting. I no more want to see a gay couple walking down the street in their underpants with their tongues down eachother's throats than I want to see a heterosexual couple doing the exact same thing. Ladies and gentleman..............Keep it at home. No one cares.

...
Everybody knew that Paul Lynde was as gay as the San Francisco May Day parade, but people still liked him because he wasn't an obnoxious jerk about it.

It looked like the typical Social Justice Warrior kinda show where they put people in the whole identity politics thing.

It looks like something that would've been cool 15 years ago. But now the whole thing is played out.

It doesn't help when SJW Rosie and SJW Whoopi Goldberg are a part of the cast. No one wants to see them.

After hearing enough hollywood people lose their minds over the election of Trump I've lost interest to watch what little I used to watch on television. I have nothing against gays, but tire of having social conditioning thrown in my face from every entertainment show I stumble on. I still get my daily science and documentary fix though.

In a world full of turmoil, some people are literally "thanking god" that the ratings of a television show went down....

I'm not a religious person, but doesn't god have bigger fish to fry?

Americans are sick of being told how much we suck.

That's racist against fish.

ABC will be making a show about that too for this fall.

I've not seen the show and don't really care, as I think that when you're at the point of turning a TV shows ratings into a political issue, it's because you're actually apolitical and a serious problem to political discourse, so I can't comment on why the show's not doing well. But, and this is just a thought, it might not be a thematic issue but instead just not be a great show.

As one poster pointed out, the show seems to be telling a story that most people, including gay people, don't feel very attached to. Most gay people I know don't really feel like they live in a terribly different world than straight people. They feel as though they're equal. Occasionally they run into an ******* who makes a comment or calls being gay a lifestyle, but, to quote a gay friend of mine, everyone sometimes has to deal with stupid people.

tl;dr: who gives a ****; it's a tv show.

The ones who claim they oppose homosexuality or claim they are tired of having it "shoved in their face", are always the ones fixated on it by commenting on it, starting threads about it and continually bringing it up.

Hardly surprising and pretty telling when you think about it.
