President Trump quietly signed an executive order on Monday reinstating a ban on travelers from six Muslim-majority countries with the hopes that it can withstand court battle that stymied his original ban.

The new ban, which will go into place on March 16, has the same basic structure of the one that was rushed into place on Jan. 27 and has since been suspended by the courts. But it doesn't include some of the most controversial and unworkable parts of the original executive order, according to a source familiar with its details.

I guess Iraq is off the list. I wonder how the circuit court will respond to this one

It's nearly identical to the old ban and just as discriminatory. I hope the courts step in and block this one too. Trump has no evidence immigrants are more prone to violence that US citizens, and we still have a long involved vetting process. He's making yet another unfounded assumption based on bigotry.

If I heard it well than this new order will be going retroactive to the date of the first ban.

Not much has changed. Yes we want to stop Muslim terrorists from entering the United States. No Donald Trump's EO is not likely to help. While the EO does make it more difficult for such persons to enter our nation, the moral religious outrage generated by Trump's order helps recruit more soldiers to the radicalized ranks, many of which already live in the USA. It will also make terrorists a lot more determined to attack.

I will say that I'm tired of hearing that Trump "can't do that" or that his order is illegal. It isn't. I've already stated that I disagree and my reasons why, but my disagreement doesn't magically make Trump's EO illegal. It's just as legal as any other EO since there was such a thing as an EO.

Thank god we are safe now

It took him 6 weeks to come up with yet another ban, no changes to the refugee program or visas, what has he been doing. He I supposed to be imposing "extreme vetting", where are the details.

Another "Muslim ban" that doesn't apply to 90% of the world's Muslims?

More LWNJs showing their desperation.
